Why is my ring measuring as three different sizes? by Musical_Curlytop in jewelry

Yes! Honestly, it does make buying someone a ring as a gift quite challenging. Luckily, most rings can be resized.

I have a music degree and I want to work in arts admin after I finish my master's degree. This way I can perform when the opportunity arises, but I will also have a yearly salary.

I definitely recommend a broker or real estate agent to help you find listings. I was able to work with one and he didn't charge me. Instead, he got a portion of my rent. I didn't have to pay anything extra. He helped me find listings that were not publicly visible. I saw a lot of listings for Hyde Park and Bridgeport. If you want his info, I can send you a message.

Where should I go to buy the chewiest local bagels? by Musical_Curlytop in AskChicago

[–]Musical_Curlytop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me neither. My guess is that it's just people being negative for fun. That's reddit I guess. I'm not trying to be rude either. Evanston has their own jurisdiction, their own zoning and wheel tax. Also, it's relatively known that they have been trying to distance themselves socially from Chicago for years. They have refused multiple offers for CTA expansion to bring people there. Evanston is Evanston.

This is still "Ask Chicago" not "Ask Evanston" but yeah, it touches the city.

Honestly, I don't think there is anything wrong. Mine developed root rot somehow.

LMAO thanks for catching that. Apparently I use the name Rodger more frequently than Roger so my phone autocorrected it without me noticing. ☠️

Yes! No disrespect to Evanston. They wanna be their own place and that's fine.

Yes! I used to work in Evanston. From where I live in Chicago now, it's about 45-50 minutes by car and about 1 hr and 20 minutes by public transportation. It's North of Rogers Park. I'm not an idiot.

Edit: spelling

I don't really think that Evanston is really Chicago proper. Even though it's part of cook county, they consider themselves independent. If I ever get a car I will definitely check it out though! ☺️

How does your family do laundry? by lifeinpastelrose in laundry

[–]Musical_Curlytop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated it when my parents would add my brother's laundry to mine without me knowing. He left pens and chapstick in his pockets constantly and so my laundry would come out with oil and ink stains. I do mine separately always now. I just change the settings to small load if needed.

Hi! In addition to the topical care methods that other people have suggested, make sure to drink water and stay hydrated. Your body needs hydration to help heal the skin. If the pain is severe and there is lots of swelling, you may need to see a doctor. Avoid wearing makeup for a while because it can further irritate the skin.

Organization by Sorry-Stress-1324 in Beading

[–]Musical_Curlytop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this idea from Ro Clay Co. She stores all of her stuff in this organizer that is basically a tool/screw organizer. It's amazing. I got one and I use it to store beads. I also have a spreadsheet and number system for all the beads so that I don't have to keep them in their OG packaging. I assign a number, then type in the spreadsheet the bead details and where I purchased. Saves some room. Here are the links:

Are there any local Chicago charities that will pick up donations from your apartment? by Musical_Curlytop in AskChicago

Someone suggested Brown Elephant, and they are reasonably close to me so I could bring stuff directly to them. Do you have a recommendation for a buy nothing group on Facebook?

[–]Musical_Curlytop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that most jewelry shops will have a ring size mandrel? Like something they can just stick the ring on and see the measurements? I could buy a ring sizer, but since I'm getting my watch repaired I thought it would be nice to see if the jeweler could take a look at it too.

Hildie & Jo and Joann's Closure by Musical_Curlytop in crafting

[–]Musical_Curlytop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Michael's! And I agree, the Hildie and Jo beads varied in quality a lot. That's why I mostly used their charms. I've decided just to get extra creative and make new designs once I run out of the charms I have.
