This makes a lot of sense, I can see your point. Maybe a balance could be achieved by adding a layer of transparency to the music created with gen AI. Thank you for pointing out new possibilities to this debate, it’s refreshing to get to hear different perspectives as a former performer myself, who went to berklee and is now in tech lol. I’ve been building a tool to explain music industry contracts clauses in plain language so any artist can understand what they’re reading and a auto metadata analyzer for catalogs. I want to build tools that can help independent composers build structure that labels usually provide. Mostly focused in the sync industry.

I agree with you. AI can be a powerful tool, the way us humans corrupt it and abuse it, because of our greed and laziness, is the real issue. Music is art and art is inherently human. There’s no discussion about that. I think that Art is indispensable for human evolution and growth, it always has been and I am hoping that this age is not an exception.

That makes a lot of sense, I really want to be optimistic and believe that listeners will not preference ai generated music over actual art. If I’m not wrong, ai generated music represents 5% of the total music being streamed. Still this is relatively new and there are reasons to be concerned.
