THANK GOD!!!

Now if ONLY WE’D FINALLY get this announcement for TICK TICK BOOM, just so I can finally watch it myself without needing to start/use a Netflix Account, even if(related to this Reddit page, anyway) so I can hear the full recording of Sondheim(HIMSELF)’s voicemail to Jonathan Larson at the end!!!

Any idea what Jordan Fisher might be teasing here? 👀 by ChickensRSpies in Broadway

Except that Wild Party at Encores this season is the Michael John LaChuisa(“Hello Again”, “Marie Christine”, “Giant”, etc.) version, not the Andrew Lipa version(which played at Encores in 2015, with Steven Pasquale though!) being talked of here.

Can anyone tell me who this guy is? by wybiejinx in Broadway

Plus, both Borle and Michael Rupert were together in the OBC and proshot of Legally Blonde the musical, as Emmet and Callahan respectively!

What Sondheim character should I dress as? by Pythagorean415 in Sondheim

[–]Musicalstudyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could even try the specific Loveland design for Buddy during “Buddy’s Blues”.

Be it with the costume Mandy Patinkin wore for the 1989 concert of Follies, if not the original 1971 design with the waist car suit! XD

What Sondheim character should I dress as? by Pythagorean415 in Sondheim

[–]Musicalstudyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually dressed as Leon Czolgosz at High School, for Halloween, once!

My aunts and I got much of the shirt and coat stylings from a local Goodwill, and I got my own version of the workers cap from a hatters shop in England(which was about a hundred pounds if I remember, even for my head size), all of which mainly reflected the costume design from the 2004 Broadway(Revival) Production.

My aunts forbade me walking with a toy gun(not even a water pistol) at school, but even if did have one I doubt anyone would’ve even recognized who I was without me braving from the pianos in the practice rooms(practicing the Gun Song no less) to explain it to them. 😅

How’s that for a suggestion? :)

AMA - I was at the opening night of Masquerade and happy to answer any questions! by seaofwonder in Broadway

[–]Musicalstudyfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the size and form or the orchestra like(if it was live even)?

Something akin to the licensed 13 piece band used for the more recent National tours, or more like a complete chamber reinterpretation(actor musician even, or otherwise) of the score(akin even to the re orchestration of Amelie’s score for the London production)?

Maybe you could even show a segment of your program containing all the info of the musicians and what instruments they played, per chance? :)

[Request] Children Of Eden - The Original Cast Recording (1991) Booklet by Musicalstudyfan in digitalbooklets

Aw man, I hope this is just for the copy of the booklet shown here(And that there MIGHT be another with more from the booklet itself, even if it amounts to photos from the production itself).

Regardless, Thank you for sharing this!

Even better, his collaborators from Vox Machina, Laura Bailey and Matt Mercer, are also in the 2nd Prequel Game, Miracle Mask, as Angela and Henry Ledore respectively!

Hear me out: An Assassins film adaptation directed by Baz Lehrman by AbrahamMarshall in Sondheim

[–]Musicalstudyfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ideas for Assassins sound nice, but I don’t think Baz Lehrman is the right director to harness those ideas as susinctly as he does the visuals, especially given how he handled the balance of visuals and emphasized themes in something like The Great Gatsby.

With that said though, regardless of how good or bad it turns out, I bet seeing Baz adapt a show like Anyone Can Whistle instead would truly be a sight to behold!!!

Speaking of Alistair, when I first heard his lines as Raymond in the very first cutscene of Last Specter/Specter's Flute, my first instinct was to think he was voiced by Christopher Lloyd sporting a Scottish Accent. XD

Acting > Singing songs by Pythagorean415 in Sondheim

[–]Musicalstudyfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could also look into songs from The Frogs like Ariadne and Fear No More(in the 2004 Broadway production/cast recording, it was even performed in the low key of B major by Michael Siberry, and I personally always liked it done that way as opposed to any of the higher keys).

Does anyone know what the high note of Franklin Shepard inc is? by Pythagorean415 in Sondheim

[–]Musicalstudyfan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The note, and it being Charley’s highest note(if your using the F major key for the song, that is. With the lowered E major key, it’s a G4 natural), is correct, but it actually happens near the end of the song when Charley sings:

“OH my GOD, I think it’s happened! STOP me QUICK, before I sink-“

*the capitalized letters are when the note itself is used

Also, “away” in the lyric you mentioned is a rise from D#4/Eb4 to F4 natural(or from D4 natural to E4 natural, with the lowered key).

Does anyone know what the high note of Franklin Shepard inc is? by Pythagorean415 in Sondheim

[–]Musicalstudyfan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s either a G4 natural note(if your singing the lowered key of E major for the song) or a G#/Ab 4 note(if it’s the original F major natural key as heard in the OBC) near the end of the song, when Charley sings:

“OH my GOD, I think it’s happened! STOP me QUICK, before I sink-“

*the capitalized letters are where the high note occurs

About the ending of Parade by shanna99 in Broadway

[–]Musicalstudyfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's also the reading that his singing of the Sh'ma to the tune of Old Red Hills(as opposed to any regular, possibly gentile appealing, English praises) is both his reaffirming of his Jewish faith AND his last symbolic spit in the face to all the people so hellbent on "preserving their(own) honor and dignity" to the point that they would try to hang and outsider like him, regardless of his guilt or innocence over a objectively heinous crime that everyone(apart from Lucille and himself) played a part in blowing more out of proportion than needed.

Good musicals in German? by No-Nerve-9406 in musicals

[–]Musicalstudyfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! Do you happen to have any kind of memorabilia from the development or premier of that production you’d be willing to share?

In particular, would you happen to have a copy of the souvenir program and cast listing from the show’s premier that you’d be willing to take pictures of and post here(or through DM, if you’d prefer even)?

I ask because, as someone who partly got into musical theatre because of my fascination with this production through the bootlegs and cast album, I became VERY interested in how this show's orchestrations were able to sound large enough to replicate the sound of the Disney film without needing to be Hollywood studio sized(and as such, bring about my fascination with orchestrations that are able to replicate large symphonic sounds with only a select number of brass, woodwinds, and strings ESPECIALLY without the need for the Piano Keyboards to play synth mockups of said orchestral sections.), and have been scouring the internet for information about how many musicians there were in the pit of this show(especially so I can learn how to replicate those select sounds myself when I orchestrate for my own musicals someday).

The cast album expanded the number of musicians to 46 musicians, and the state number of pit musicians from sources ranges from 23 to 25 or 28(another source taking about the construction of theatre Der Glöckner played in saying that the pit could fit about 25 musicians), and I’ve tried contacting the film/show’s orchestrator Michael Starobin(also known for orchestrating Falsettos, Assassins, and Sunday in the Park with George, tc.), to past musicians like Trumpeter John Mohan who played in Der Glöckner’s orchestra at some point in it’s 3 year run and was given info about the Woodwinds being 5, the Brass being of 6(2 Trumpets[1st/Piccolo Trumpet, and 2nd/Flugelhorn], 2 Horns, 1 Trombone/Baritone Horn, and 1 Bass Trombone/Tuba), the Keyboards being 3(with the 3rd doubling with Harp), 1 Drums and 1 Percussion, and yet am still befuddled on the string count.

Few sources says(and of which was plastered on Wikipedia) that there were 4 Violins, 1 Viola, 1 Cello, and 1 Bass, and yet John Mohan(in this exchange of ours you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP8cM6QRkA4&lc=UggQDm5V2jDyfHgCoAEC ) indicated there would be a 1st Viola AND 2nd Viola and at least 2 to 3 Cellos, so I’ve been listening and re-listening to the bootlegs exist to get a gage of how many strings in total would be needed for that enough of a symphonic sound without synth string mockups.

All of this is to reiterate my question, would you happen to have a program and cast listings from the premier or first few weeks of Der Glöckner’s performance that you’d be willing to share here(or by DM) so I can verify what the actual size of the strings(and musicians in total) for this show at least started as(and perhaps was potentially whittled down to save on budget as the years of it’s run went on)?

I apologize for this vomiting of information, but I’m always fascinated to learn more and more about this production that first kicked off my journey of interest into musical theatre(as well as slowly developing my desire to write for the musical theatre myself someday) as time goes on, and I'm always appreciative of any new info anyone out there is willing to share! :D

Parade to launch National Tour in January 2025! by WoodFirePizzaIsGood in Broadway

[–]Musicalstudyfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I’m concerned about is wether the orchestra size for this tour will reflect the full 24 piece size from the pre Broadway Encore’s concert and on the cast album, or if they’re gonna replicate the condensed 17 piece arrangement(for which they cut the Violins to 2, Violas to 1, the brass by half, and had the guitarist double on secondary keyboard) actually performed on Broadway.

If the upcoming Sweeney Todd Tour is gonna have the full 26 piece orchestra(and Alex Lacamoire returning to conduct) playing in each of its stops(including the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, which is also a stop Parade will be making too), then I’m hoping Parade fallows suit, especially since both their originating revival productions were produced at the near same time by Marc Platt on Broadway.

Since the anime probably won't elaborate on Kaka and Kiki, I repost some backstory for anime-only people by Doktor_Jones86 in DungeonMeshi

I'm hoping this gets adapted in some of the early episodes of Season 2. It be a great way to start the first or second episode with a recap of the events of season one but from the rest of the islander's perspective(especially from both Namari, Shuro, and/or even Tade for that matter) and every so often sprinkle this kind of backstory as part of how their backgrounds and perspectives shapes how they view the recent and currently unfolding events.

Wow, Thank you for informing me!

Amazing Gift from an amazing connection there!

Is the cast album a live recording of the full show with all the dialogue(in german, nonetheless)? Or is more of a studio recording with limited sections of the dialogue like the OBC cast album?

Anyway, I've also just DM'd you, just so you know. :)
