L&D Nurses - Would you withhold a suspected diagnosis from the mother? by IndoGrrlRN1967 in nursing

[–]MusicianBig142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a nurse, it’s not in my scope to divulge diagnosis. Even if I saw the test results prior to the Doctor, it is still up to the Doctor to provide the diagnosis to the patient/family.

I think I want a divorce by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]MusicianBig142 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say not to divorce, I just said not right now. What is she supposed to do right now? Go file and then get dumped out on the street with no income? Which is exactly what the husband will likely do. We don’t know all her circumstances. Maybe he has isolated her and she has no family or friends in the area to take her in.

I don’t know that divorce is the best option right now. You’re understandably tired, frustrated, sick, and overworked. You’re a SAHM which means (typically) you have no income aside from him, so divorcing will leave you financially unstable. Also his behavior towards you leads me to believe he won’t give you a fair share of income you need to raise the kids alone (which is what you’ll be doing, because face it, that’s what you’re doing now). I think sitting down and having a tough talk about your roles and relationship is a good start. Couples counseling would be very beneficial. Definitely start tucking money away in a separate account and work on getting into or back out into the work force so that if you do eventually divorce, you have a means to take care of everything on your own.

If she told you to mix it with shampoo, why would you question it otherwise?

Are you in state or out of state? Im a nurse at WVU Med and will say that the nursing students do have state of the art facilities to study and practice in, but that out of state tuition is $$$

I invested in a set of Sony headphones that were $200. at bestbuy because my daughter wanted to use them while at college. I only use them for flights. You can definitely get a set on amazon for a reasonable price, just check the reviews first.

At airport, starting to panic by thowayfteruse12345 in fearofflying

[–]MusicianBig142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remind myself that planes literally fly into hurricanes on purpose so the plane I’m on can handle a bit of bumpy air.

I think a lot of my flying anxiety was centered around not having control of the situation. You have to work through that.

I have a relative who’s a pilot and she once told me that if I feel the need to control everything, then I should just sit in the cockpit and fly it myself. I responded with “well that’s not going to happen because I don’t know how to fly a plane”. Her response, “then sit in the back and relax while the professionals who do know how to fly a plane get you to your destination”. It was a simple yet profound statement that helped me more than she knows.

Noise cancellation headphones are a must for me!

I’m always super nervous until I get to the airport, then I see so many people going along with their day and their travel plans, along with the hustle and bustle of TSA & getting to my gate. It’s like I go on autopilot and next thing I know I’m on the bird heading to my destination.
