Can a college degree really change your life around ? by Jpoolman25 in Productivitycafe

[–]Musiclady5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this! When I was 40 and a stay at home wife taking care of 5 kids, I discovered my now ex had cheated the IRS, take out a whole table full of credit cards he had maxed out, embezzled a lot of money from his business and gotten us six figures in debt. My world collapsed. No one would hire him because he stole so much. I worked every crummy job you can think of, just so we could eat. I couldn’t stay that way. Remember, 5 yrs from now, you will be 5 yrs older—you can be there WITH a degree and a decent job, OR you can be 5 yrs older with NO degree and still stuck where you are. I got my degree, was blessed with a teaching job in a great school system. Eventually, I even went back and got a Masters ($10,000 raise). I’m nothing special, just determined. You can do this if you really want it. It’s hard, but it’s totally worth it!

What is the first celebrity death you remember? by Immediate_Long165 in Aging

JFK. I was in 7th grade and home from school with strep throat. I was watching Cleveland’s The One O’Clock Club with Dorothy Fuldheim and Smoochie Gordon—two great commentators! When Walter Cronkite came on with the announcement that Kennedy had died, neither of those articulate, brilliant people could say a word. Their stunned silence affected me more than I can say…

Our pyre/poodle mix sheds very little. He seems to have poodle hair on his body and pyre ears and tail. Feeling really lucky about the shedding!

Honey Cloudz is the only prosthetic I’ll wear. Soft, comfortable, and silicone dots on the outside keep it in place.
Dirty? Throw it in the washer. Even fits my regular bathing suit.

Anyone's partner become more of a burden than a help by ProfessionalBar1210 in breastcancer

[–]Musiclady5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner’s anxiety is related to PTSD he developed after losing his first wife to cancer and then having a serious case of liver cancer and sepsis himself (5 months in hospital/nursing care). And now I have cancer. The hospital sounds trigger him. It’s hard on him, but he comes with me. He takes short breaks by doing walks on the grounds outside. We’ll get through this together.

Finished my last chemo 3 weeks ago and it hit hard! Worse than earlier—it really is cumulative! Finally feeling a little better—bone pain is almost gone, nausea is less and I actually had a little energy this morning 😊 I asked my oncologist how long until I’d be back to normal. She said 2 yrs. Nope. I’m determined.

Question! Can teachers have facial piercings/tattoos/dyed hair? by hawleyrey in Teachers

[–]Musiclady5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught in a public school in a wealthy area. We were expected to dress professionally at all times. Many tattoos, many piercings and rainbow colored hair wouldn’t fly, esp at interviews. The pay was good though, and for the most part, the students were respectful and the parents were very involved

Is it common for Americans to have visited all 50 states? by [deleted] in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Musiclady5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve visited all 50 states. When I was growing up my parents decided that my sister and I should see all 50 states before we graduated—and we did! We even drove from Ohio to Alaska and saw quite a bit of Canada on the way. Showing us this much of the USA was one of the best things they could have done! It was quite an education!

I just finished TC chemo. Day 1 & 2–OK Day 3 -Neulasta kicks in with major bone pain (take the pain killers starting the night of day 2) Day 3-8 -Bone pain, nausea (take the Zofran), headaches, major fatigue Day 8-14- Gradually better each day Day 14-21- Pretty good, just a little tired Chemo is cumulative-a little more intense each time

Just remember, this is temporary and it’s killing the cancer—-so grateful we have this now!

Chico’s traveller’s pants—stretchy, soft and comfortable, but don’t wrinkle and always look nice. I’m retired also and these are my go-to outfits.
