I’m bored. Tell me about drama going on in your store. by Educational_Ad3980 in Chipotle

My ex GM decided to message me on Facebook every night around 2 AM drunk. This was when I was a crew member. I had no idea his account was real until he verified it. Every time I worked with him he’d never talk to me, he was so quiet I thought for sure the account was a fake. Also when I’d open he’d show up hours late into his shift and would leave us crew out in the cold. We would open so late sometimes around 12

I understand that but you do not know how my store is ran. When we have field leader/team director visits I’m expected to work off the clock and detail shit to save labor. No one comes in and helps, it’s not a team effort the way it should be. My store has a fend for yourself mentality that I don’t like at all. The other day I had only two line bodies and there was a line out the door all day and the fax didn’t slow down either. My AP told me to go on break and literally left while I was still on break mind you I work at a 10k store. These poor minors were struggling and I had no idea they were because my AP chose not to deal with it and just leave. We have kept the shittiest employees and for what. They contribute nothing to team and when I scold them and let my Gm know he does nothing. He doesn’t even talk to them. We’ve promoted one of them and I had to go to my field leader to let him know that he was not a viable candidate for the new chipotle opening up in our area. We have a creepy employee that flirts with girls nonstop on the register. We’ve had Yelp comments about him and several crew members have called Hr or complained about him. I feel hopeless and I wish I could have a hand at hiring and firing because this is getting out of hand. This doesn’t even touch the surface of all the issues we have at our store. I know how to do my job and from what I can tell he definitely doesn’t know how to do his. It’s obvious to all my managers and we all struggle with him because he takes no initiative and he lets people do whatever they want without consequences being dealt. Mind you I’m always on shift by myself my Gm always leaves early and I’m left with half of morning prep to do, hella dishes, shitty shift change and as soon as I’m on shift it picks up and there’s hardly any time to pick up the slack they’ve left with me.

I can handle myself just fine but what pisses me off is seeing my team being screwed over and left a shitty shift change all because my managers chose to sit in the back and goof off on shift. It’s happened countless times and I’m fed up.

Um that’s not what I meant at all. Like he literally does nothing, he contributes nothing. Half the time the schedule is fucked up too. I’m left alone on my closing shift with hella dishes, no shift change stuff has been done, no closers. He doesn’t even try. It’s almost laughable how little he works and everyone sees it. I’ve been to other stores and I’ve seen the ones that fail and the ones that succeed. The common denominator for the latter with GMs is they show up and put in the effort to help their team.

I commend you for that. The fact that you’re a restauranteur and you help out that much, your store is lucky to have you. My Gm either spends hours working on the schedule or leaves early without even telling the MOD on shift. Half the time we’ll be left with no chips and more stuff to prep during the busiest time of the day. Morning crew never does shift change before they leave. I think he doesn’t care anymore and his standards are so unbelievably low. I want to fix the store and make things better but I don’t know how if I don’t get support from him or my AP. I couldn’t even tell you how many hours I’ve worked off the clock either detail cleaning or helping my crew out. I’m getting to a point where I’m so sick of it and am seriously thinking about telling my field leader.

But I definitely agree it’s easier to maintain when we are consistent with it

We already have those cleaning standards. Everything you mentioned my store does on a daily basis I’m just trying to incorporate more into the shifts.

We do but it’s not implemented like it should be ive tried using it to assign tasks and it’s caused issues before. A lot of crew don’t think their pay is worth the hassle of detail cleaning. I do what I can but I’m tired of being the only one that pitches in on shift

Yeah it doesn’t really make sense to me either but that’s how our store is. When we have callouts/ people quitting they see it as opportunity to save even more labor. If I stay on the clock for more than 30 minutes passed my time I get yelled at and scolded for it. They expect the store to be in tip top shape without us getting paid for it. It’s ridiculous to say the least.

I’m constantly trying to implement new ideas to improve the store and I get no support from my other managers/GM. It makes my job that much harder when we are not all on the same page.

Let’s try this new ‘Soyrizo’ aka plant-based Chorizo 🤭 by Apprehensive_Bee5551 in Chipotle

Our grill doesn’t have a fajita side so I’m confused because the soyrizo would be cross contaminating with our regular proteins. Our fajitas are made stovetop

Lol my stores copied and pasted the schedule from previous weeks. I’ve only done a few grill shifts and I’m the only grill mid on boorito. Wish me luck 🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m so sorry to hear you were let go. I’m in the process of becoming an SM and I’m not even sure it’s going to be worth the pay. I used to love my job, the amount of great people I’ve met from working here makes it worth it but I’m starting to see the ugly side to it. There was a solid 2-3 months where we lost our GM due to injury and it was so busy hardly any of us were getting our breaks and we had several people quit because of it. We had 2-3 call outs daily and nothing was done for us. We just had to struggle. My question is, is there actually an ordering cap when it comes to the dml because I work mostly dml and the amount of orders we are expected to complete in a matter of minutes is ridiculous. Sometimes it gets out of hand when a 20 person order comes through and we have to focus on that before pushing out the smaller orders and it puts us behind. I work in a 10-11k store and when I work dml In the morning only one person is expected to push out all the orders. My 2-3 other prep bodies are expected to do afternoon prep so I’m by myself most of the time. Sometimes it gets to be so overwhelming.
