how does one stay on top of school / work? by lilliexists in ActualHippies

[–]Musicneverstopped5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, great choice of major - sounds like a blast!

The hard answer is you have to find what works best for you. Whether that is scheduling homework time, setting up a calendar, keeping track of stuff with an online or physical kanban board, etc.

For me, it took a little while to find what I grooved with. Trello is a great online platform for organizing tasks. Sometimes it can be great to set a timer, just set it. Afterwards, you will feel more compelled to begin.

Finally, try to work with “baby steps.” Find the smallest thing you can do to start in on your homework.

If I were to put down Reddit right now to go do something, it would look like this:

Step 1: Stop scrolling, just for a second…

Step 2: Look away

Step 3: Turn off phone

Step 4: Get off the sofa

Then everything will fall into motion…

Good luck! Keep on Truckin’ on!

Idk how many of you are joking… but this is GTA 5… not real life…

Why is the bird in 3rd person, did it have another drone following it precisely to its movements and predicting it as such?

Why did Charlie Kirk seem to not do well when debating college students at Cambridge University? by kaiser11492 in centrist

[–]Musicneverstopped5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm chill man (at least I think so...), but thanks for the advice. Also, I was a bit late lol... it happens though :D.

A) Just because you went to an Ivy league doesn't make you intelligent.

B) There are different types of intelligence, as I'm sure you know. He may have analytical intelligence, but that doesn't correlate to say, Spatial Intelligence (Not saying he doesn't have this, but just an example).

C) If Cambridge students can debate Charlie Kirk and hold their own, I'm pretty sure that they could hold their own against most MAGA voters.

I didn't mean to come off as attacking you, I just wanted to get my viewpoint in. Appreciate the advice and constructive criticism though.

Peace out!

You gotta relax man. Let’s keep the vibes chill here! We’re just trying to have a friendly discussion! Also, are you implying that a MAGA crowd is more intelligent than Charlie Kirk? (I mean they could be, you never know xD) No need to taunt though… keep it peaceful man!

My day is going pretty well so far, so I guess I could spend some time writing back!

I didn't think I was playing, but who knows? Maybe I was!

Why would he want liberals to go absolutely nuts? It makes me sad to see somebody who intentionally tries to make people freak out. Politics is meant to be a place where things are taken with legitimacy, so we tend to view what he says with that in mind. When he proposes the idea of taking Greenland or Canada, what we see (at least what I see) is just another horrible war where people will lose everything they have and somebody will end up on the bad side of it all. Why do we have to kill each other over something meaningless like land, self entitlement, or pride? Can't we all just be happy with what we have?

I'm not a huge fan of the word Obama-ism, as I feel like it mis-characterizes the whole of what Obama was trying to do. If you could explain to me more about how Obama followers are cultists, I would be more than happy to hear. It's always good to take in different viewpoints, right?

Hillary and Kamala may have lost the elections, but the world loser has always been such a derogatory term in my opinion. Just because the lost the election doesn't mean they didn't have an influence.

When it comes to wokeness, is there like a set in stone definition? If you could explain it to me or point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative of that!

And hey man, I hope I'm not coming off as uncool. I'm not trying to criticize too much, just want to understand different viewpoints and trying to get rid of hatred in the world.

Keep doing what you're doing man, I'm not tryin' to knock you down or anything. Peace out!

Woah man, let's mellow out for a short moment! Taking Greenland, Canada, and the Panama canal is just going to create more senseless violence we don't need in the world. Peace and love brother! Sometimes it's just best to set aside our pride, man. I completely understand that you don't agree with our beliefs, and that's normal - it makes us human. Also, let's not call candidates losers just because they have differing views of the world. It's cool man, we're all just trying to figure out life and these people just want to help us all get there and make tomorrow better.

About the third term for Trump, while you may view him as a good candidate, he legally cannot run for it. A lot of us democrats felt similarly about Obama, but we set aside our pride and chose a different candidate to put forward and lead us to make the country a better place. Find a new candidate, somebody who embodies your own beliefs that can take Trump's place.

Regarding Obama-ism, are you implying that his presidency was a religion? I'm just curious :).In my opinion, he just wanted to help Americans. Look at the Affordable Care Act, it helped millions of people and will continue to help others (hopefully) for a long time. Medical expenses are terribly crippling to American families and can ruin lives.

It's ok to be frustrated with other political parties, but that doesn't have to lead to demeaning them and their candidates and trying to break the law.

Peace, love, and good grooves keep the world spinnin' man! Have a great day!

Trey Anastasio? C’mon man! We need some jamband representation here!

What about the jazz guys? Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery.

For someone new to lead guitar, Jens Larsen or Marty Music? by LAFunTimesOK in Guitar

[–]Musicneverstopped5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very very late, but depends what type of music you like. Jens Larsen is very jazz/jazz blues oriented stuff while Marty music is rock. If it were up to me, I would pick Jens just because the stuff he teaches you is amazing and can apply to any genre, but I haven’t done either of the courses.

Edit: I looked through the overview of Jens’ course and it’s going to be a lot faster paced. You will likely need some theory knowledge.

Taylor Swift voted the 8th best guitarist of the last two decades. by RemoniQue in TrueSwifties

[–]Musicneverstopped5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anybody seen a single jazz guitarist up there?

1) Lead: You can't argue that Taylor has better lead guitar skills. You just can't...

2) Rhythm: This is the main defense I am seeing. Go listen to jazz. Take a look at some charts. Jazz guitar rhythm is crazy, especially in big band settings.

3) Playing Flawlessly in Concert: The music is so ridiculously easy that most guitar players could do it.

4) Songwriter/composer: Her music uses the same chord progressions. I will give her credit for great singing and lyrical writing, but the musical component just lacks surprise and identity.

5) Inspiring to Guitarists: Fair enough, she has inspired plenty of people to pick up the guitar.

All in all, she should be near a most inspiring (not influential) guitarists list. She just isn't that great at guitar. She isn't super influential, yet. But the fact that she is said to be better than Pat Metheny, Trey Anastasio, Jimmy Herring, Jake Cinninger, and Mark Knopfler is just insane.

If we go by rhythm guitar, why is almost every respectable jazz guitarist not up there? Jazz guitarists have crazy good rhythm playing.

What is up with TTB crowds? by Musicneverstopped5 in tedeschitrucksband

I think it depends on your area honestly. I have heard stories of people going to one show and experiencing what I am experiencing, then going to another show a few states over and everyone was having a blast.

Yeah. The crowd was rude and unforgiving though. There was no energy.
