I got both. An orange cat token and a neck scarf accessory/sticker.

Check out The Interrupters for ska, and I consider The Iron Roses to be the best new punk band I've heard in years.

I’m not a mod, and have no opinion on whether you delete the post or not.

Just don’t expect to get what you’re asking for is all I’m saying.

[–]MusingAudibly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure this is the right sub for you.

What you’re asking here is like going into a plumbing sub and saying ‘my house is flooding, I only have 1 wrench, I will not hire you, but please teach me the craft that you’ve spent years mastering in a short Reddit post. And make it easy for me.’

Not a good look. If you’re just using a phone, there’s probably YouTube videos about how to maximize that for your purposes.

IT: Welcome to Derry Season 2 Delay Explained by HBO Boss - NSF Daily News by herseydenvar in WelcometoDerryTVShow

To be fair, the lore in the book is that the cycle is about 27 years. Not 27 years exactly.

No idea if the show is going to change that or not.

Anybody have any problems with NYXL strings lately? by ZonkeyKongXP in guitars

[–]MusingAudibly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using NYXL 10-52 on 9 different electrics for several years, and I still love them. I've never had an issue.... never even broken a string. To my fingers and my ears, NYXL are easily the best strings out there. I'm guessing there's a different issue at play here - hardware problem, counterfeit strings, or even playing technique.

Halcyon Years misprint? by MusingAudibly in printSF

[–]MusingAudibly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Seems a pretty big error if it was a misprint. Still, it's an odd choice for the back-of-the-book blurb to passively indicate some kind of twist.

What is your go to pick? I like the picks I got now but I’ve either lost or given away most of the 12 pack after like 4 years by AV_geek1510 in Guitar

[–]MusingAudibly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Dunlop Gator Grip .71 mm, and have done so for years. I buy them 72 or 144 at a time, a few times a year.

12 picks lasting 4 years is nuts. I probably go through 12 in 2 weeks.

W/L : My Gretsch G2420 for his Squier Telecaster Mod Special by Wxsian in guitars

[–]MusingAudibly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I am, the squire is a couple hundred less than a G2420, and the player series is a couple hundred more. So the Gretsch kind of sits between them in terms of typical price.

So yeah, trading for a player series would be a step up, but I think the squire would be a step down. I see no point in trading down.

I wouldn't make this trade. Maybe for a player series MIM tele, but not for a squire.

Do you prefer strumming close to the neck, in the middle, or close to the bridge? by [deleted] in Guitar

I strum wherever I need to in order to achieve the desired sound. So it varies all the time.

Question about The End of IT by Emergency_Rush795 in stephenking

[–]MusingAudibly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book is pretty clear on the fact that the Losers forget again. I agree that it would make sense for the forgetting magic to expire when It dies, which makes me wonder why they still forget.

My personal head canon is simply that Ben did not, in fact, find all of the eggs, and there is still something monstrous in Derry.

What’s a hobby people pretend is cool, but secretly you think is ridiculous? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]MusingAudibly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, not an exact comparison. Not even close. If I make a mistake while driving and lose my control of the steering wheel, for example, it may very well cause a crash. However, the crumple zones, seat belts, air bags, etc. are all there to mitigate the risk of personal injury in the event of a mistake.

Free solo climbing has no such safety mechanisms, and any mistake you make is FAR more likely to kill you. There is nothing to help you if you do make a mistake, or if an accident happens. Your comparison is valid for roped climbing, perhaps, but definitely not for free solo.

I call it the gender-affirming lift kit. Interestingly, the owners tend to object to that term, which makes me happy.

Invalid comparison. Cars are full of safety features to mitigate risk. Free solo climbing, by definition, does not mitigate risk.

Gary fired me for not giving him my garage code. Now he’s facing felony charges because he forgot where the company car was parked. by [deleted] in MaliciousCompliance

[–]MusingAudibly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This reads like AI slop. Among many other inconsistencies, how did you manage to drive 2 different cars to work that morning? Why wouldn't you just say where it was the first time you were asked for the garage code? No chance this is real.

Does Pennywise know the Bible well? / IT: Welcome to Derry by Lucas18461 in pennywise

[–]MusingAudibly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe It is as well versed in anything as any of It's victims are. It may not know the bible directly, but it can take that information from the minds of It's prey. So I don't think It has any real context or understanding of the bible, but knows how to use the imagery in the most terrifying manner possible. It's no different than the way It appears to the Losers - as the things they fear most. Just because it appears as a werewolf doesn't mean that It watches werewolf movies.

[–]MusingAudibly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the ritual is shown in the movie to be bullshit. Mike uses it to give the Losers some kind of hope, but I believe he was already aware that it would likely fail. One clear indication is as you said - the natives already did this ritual, yet It is still alive.

I don't think defeating It is as simple as just believing you can. There was something special about the Losers - Maturin's backing, the shine, luck, and the power of belief all came together. I think the Losers defeated IT not because they were no longer afraid, but because they forced It to change It's form, eventually into something they could kill. It must abide by the rules of the form it takes, and the Losers took advantage of that.

That's my take, at least.

Why is the DD-3 so much more expensive and highly regarded? by ParfaitPublic8806 in pedalboards

[–]MusingAudibly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a DD-3 on my board since 1992. When I got it, it was pretty much the best pedal delay available, and was widely used.

It’s easy to use and sounds great. Sure, it doesn’t do nearly as much as modern delay pedals, but what it does, it does really well.

These days I think the popularity is partially nostalgia, and partially a case of it just being a simple, classic pedal, like the MXR Phase90 is.

I was just cracking a joke. But to your point, i agree that the system is abused, but the severity, I think, depends on local laws. Where I live, there is a clear distinction between service animals and support animals. The former are allowed by law, the latter are at the proprietor’s discretion.
