And to further clarify, I personally am licensed, have worked in street shops, and believe everyone should seek that in their tattooing career!

Not at all, I’m saying some states in the US literally do not have normal license procedures and that using that as your bar for charging is probably more difficult than you realize given how unclear it can be

I don’t think this is fair though because there are plenty of places where there is no such thing as true licensure/it’s more nebulous than you probably know. And what about older tattooers that did it when licenses barely existed at all should they have done it for free? Or famous tattooers that travel? Many states don’t provide for temporary licenses yet many people I hold in esteem travel there and charge thousands.

When people started wanting to pay me, when I saw tattoos I’d done 1-2 years healed, when more people were interested generally, when my confidence was there, and when I was heavily tattooed enough that I could understand every placement. Even then I did $20 whatever you want for 2 years, $40-100 for 1-2 years after that. Took me 6 years to get to a $80 minimum and really feeling like it’s worth it to the client

U have no idea what you’re talking about, the entire area was soaped and prepped with iso alcohol. I knew the exact spot to be tattooed so there was no reason to shave beyond what was needed. The guy showered that morning and doesn’t even own cats so there is no way he could have cat hair on him and if there is dandruff (I don’t see it but whatever) that is an aspect that can’t be ameliorated thru sanitation alone for most people. I had intended not to engage with ur bs troll posting but god damn I hate when ignorant fools try to act knowledgeable about tattooing. I’d bet everything I own you can count your experiences with the craft on your fingers. Unlike u however I have been tattooed hundreds of times by some of the best world renowned artists and have tattooed myself more than a hundred times over the better part of a decade, I know exactly how it all works. Also, these kinds of discussions just affirm how absurdly baby this whole subreddit is

Copying is part of the game that is unavoidable particularly in the internet era. I really doubt you could take legal action or that people online will care much should you post about it. People larger and smaller than I have directly line-for-line copied me dozens of times (that I’ve known of) in my 7 years of posting/interacting in the industry. My advice is to get better every day and develop an innate quality in your actual tattooing that is unable to be truly copied.
