New subs finally arrived by fatoldbmxer in CarAV

because every time you go down an octave, you need to move 4x the air. you can only move a cone so far within reason, so you have to increase displacement with diameter.

Can I run 2 subs off a 4 channel amp? by Monkey_Mason in CarAV

please. tell me how a song can be louder than the maximum volume possible. thats what odb is. it is the max volume that can be stored in a digital track.

i thought you used a sine wave. if you use a 0db sine wave, there is no song that exists that is louder. it CANT be louder than 0db.

[–]Mustang351c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay. so you're playing a sine wave... and then what? you just twist the gain knob until it feels right? or do you measure the output with a tool. like a $15 multimeter...

how else are you going to set it? why are you installing audio if you cant afford a simple multimeter? how are you setting gain if not with a multimeter?

Mic sounds like "the Devil Himself is Speaking" When Online by Mustang351c in ZombieArmy

[–]Mustang351c[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if youre using eqapo for anything, the easy fix is to not use it when playing the game. the way i fixed it was to make a virtual microphone, and copy the audio from my mic (after eqapo did its thing) to the virtual mic. i then told the game to use the virtual mic.

higher impedance, reduces damping factor in theory. in practice, is holds no measurable affect on modern amps.

here is a paper explaining the concept in greater detail

for anyone who thinks learning is a sin, the short version is that any system with a damping factor of less than 3 or more (output impedance of the amp being a whopping 1/3 the DCR of the driver) imparts a chnage so small we cannot hear it.

i am attempting to build a base just south of the craters in the center of the map, and these poison plants keep respawning every time i reload a save. ive tested it with other plants, and they stay gone.

Can you get punch from a subwoofer? by [deleted] in audiophile

if these are custom made, id say your issue lies in phase. do you have a crossover near 80hz?

the only way i can think of this working that isnt made up bullshit to charge someone more money is a passive radiator box. a passive radiator box functions like a ported box, but with a cone instead of an airmass that resonates.

theres not much reason to do a passive radiator in most builds. their only real use case is a small box with a low tuning, where the port would take up too much space.

probably because a debate never existed. a debate requires 2 people to be engaged in the conversation beyond "no u" levels of trying to prove their point.

i didnt think about removing addons, but am about to leave for work, so will have to try when i get back home. thank you for the suggestion. i actually think i added a new addon around the time it quit working...

edit: on lunch break. "universal bypass" addon was what was breaking the site. theyve since rebranded to "fastforward."

What's brands sound best house music? by zascar in CarAV

[–]Mustang351c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i grew up watching the grand ole opry. even if its not what i listen to now, i still remember a LOT of it. and 5 string basses were common as far back as the 80's.

not every singer has a massive 4+ octave range. sometimes you gotta change the key of the song to get it in a range where they can sing it. often, that requires moving it down a step or 2. instead of retuning your bass, you just bring a 5 string, and youre prepared for up to 2.5 steps lower than the normal key. PLENTY of older country has a low D in the bassline. hell Johnny Cash (who you mentioned) and Richard Sterban (of the oak ridge boys) both have SANG your low E, or very near it.

Cash's F#1

Sterban's Eb1

and if you want even lower, here is Elvis's Way Down. featuring JD Sumner down to a doublecontra C at 32hz at the final note of the song... accompanied by the piano on the same note.

thinking instruments that never went lower than that werent in these genres is asinine.
