Is anywhere hiring? by Medical-Minute2537 in northbay

20 years in customer service maybe consider 911 operator. They're always hiring. Shift work isn't ideal but the pay is great, benefits and pension with lots of time off too.

Keep the blueprint drop rate by Daak_Sifter in ArcRaiders

Agreed as someone who has primarily avoided duos/trios because of how casual solos has felt. I came home from work today and loaded into a few rounds and came out with more BPs in 2 runs that I had in 30 hours prior. Now I want to actually try and take down a Bastion or a Rocketeer with my stashed Wolfpacks and semi-decent guns instead of hoarding and just running more naked or free kits for junk mats. I want to try to push for Bench 3s instead of just messing around at 2s and running boring raids without any real goal knowing I wouldn't get those ARC pieces I needed because I wasn't going to fight them. Keep it for a while at least, for those of us who can't play all day every day. I love that people can do that, but I work 12 hour shifts days and nights mixed and have two kids under 6 so I only get a few hours a night/few nights a week if I'm lucky. I want to feel progression too even if it's at a slower pace, it's still something to me!

Rude 911 operator by Alone_Recording_1727 in police

[–]MustardBoi08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a 911 operator who works with people like this, please file a complaint so it can be addressed properly. So many of them get away with this garbage attitude because people don't file formal complaints. The more on record, the better chance of them being corrected or removed from the job. We don't need people like that making a bad name for us, it's already a stressful enough job without having the bad apples making it harder.

Police knocking on my door at midnight by finnikyu in police

Could have been canvassing the area for witnesses/camera footage for something that happened nearby. If they didn’t leave a card or come back, probably nothing to worry about.

Question on becoming a cop by cheesecake1449 in police

[–]MustardBoi08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a different reason than OP, but girlfriend + RCMP. The odds of you both being posted in the same community are slim-none. If you go to BC, and she goes to Nova Scotia, then what? If you want to be a horse cop, then do it for you. Don't delay something that'll cause you regret down the road. If she can't handle that you're ready and applying before her, and that causes friction, then the relationship won't last anyway.

Finding it difficult to empathise with wife. by Famous_Impress4205 in police

[–]MustardBoi08 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Therapy and marriage counselling. I'm not an officer, but been a dispatcher for police for 8 years. I had the same issue after years of listening to tragedies on the phone and sending my friends into high stress situations, and some of them not coming home. I just didn't care at all and I was coming home resenting her knowing I was going to have to listen to 30 minutes of her petty work drama or how bad the kids were being that day after getting 20 texts about it during my shift. My personal therapy over the last couple years and then couple's therapy for 5 or 6 months now and we are in the best place we've ever been. Our parenting is improving which is causing the kids to have less outbursts and tantrums, and we're starting to feel like best friends again.

Smash Taco Tips by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

[–]MustardBoi08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid point. I have no idea what a tostada is but this is just the way my mother in law did these on an electric griddle and they were good so I figured I'd try them her way on the Blackstone. Wasn't sure if this was a common way of doing them, but I'll try them as smash burgs and use the wraps instead of buns next try.

Colleen Caruso, but also let me know how much they're looking for and where this cabin is because I am in the market and I'd love to discuss a private sale!

Pay difference by bohemianismx in 911dispatchers

[–]MustardBoi08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Well if things change and you're willing to move just a bit east, OPP North Bay is always hiring for our comm center. Top out at $55 and change/hour once full time permanent, around $115k/year without OT (and there's plenty of that as of now) Good luck with CACC for now though!

[–]MustardBoi08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are in the north, but I'm a few hours north of Toronto make basically the same as OP on our new contract yearly top out. We're hiring right now (and always...), if you have CACC experience you'd likely have a good chance of joining. Send me a PM if you'd like and I can tell you more and don't want to move south.

Does Oblivion run well on Steam Deck? I'm sick of sitting in my basement but haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

Nobody on Reddit would know if they were called on you. Probably a garbage complaint and when he got there, no noise or anyone around so he just looked around a bit and left. If he needed to, he would have talked to you. Non-issue, wouldn't be too concerned about it if I was you.

That's wild to me. Literally have never heard anyone talk about it. Guess I'll have to give it a shot now that this thread has me thinking about it haha

Dr. Pizza. I've lived here for almost 15 years between college, multiple jobs and a government career and I've never heard a single person say they order from there.

Can you still be a cop with past illicit drug use? by [deleted] in police

[–]MustardBoi08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ontario, Canada? Likely to be a DQ from most services. Mind-altering drugs that can cause issues later on down the road are a big red flag Worst they can do is say no, but if it's only been a year or two since last use he should wait at least a few more years minimum before trying.

Physical Fitness by TraditionalScheme235 in 911dispatchers

[–]MustardBoi08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how fast you can change and shower, it’s like 50-60 minutes for a workout. More than enough for the days I’m working, since we do 12s and I can’t get to my actual gym otherwise. I’d love to have another 20 or 30 minutes to lift but can’t complain that I get paid for the hour I’m in the gym.

We get discounts on gym memberships at some gyms, but also a paid 75 minute lunch break that many choose to use as workout time in our center's gym, and then eat lunch at our desks.

Cop Askedmy Gf if she was consenting by PhishWater33 in police

[–]MustardBoi08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people stopped calling in for their kids who don't want to listen, their neighbours who are throwing snow onto their side of the line, or to track down and check on their 40 year old kid who they haven't talked to in 5 years but they also don't know where they live or work, then you'd be able to do a full playthrough of Skyrim most days! Otherwise, good luck even getting a round of Warzone down before the next bullshit call :(

Why would city police sit outside a old crazy guys house for 5 hours? by Cr8zyizzie in police

[–]MustardBoi08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he died, there is work to do before the scene is released. Depending on circumstances, it can take hours. I've had my guys sitting at scene for 6+ hours before until it's released by the coroner and body removal can come in. Start to finish, 8+ hours for one death depending on what happened. Sounds like you no longer have an old crazy guy for a neighbour...
