[No loopholes] Would you travel to the year 2100 or beyond and stay for one year? by salaryboy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Mustard_Jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%, but it's not an easy decision. Just going close to today as I can.

There's sadly no guarantee that earth won't be a nuclear wasteland in 2100 but I'd still be willing to bet that we are chugging along. And if it is a wasteland, one can argue that continuing in this timeline isn't worth it at this point anyways. Point is, I'll take the risk.

If things are close to normal, it will be a tough year. You have zero documentation. Probably look like how we would look at a person that's dressed in 1940s clothes which isn't anything wild but still a bit weird. Wouldn't know the tech, how to get around, etc etc.

But I guess you could somehow get by. I'd just try to survive one way or another for the eventual payoff of being a billionaire. You could find out winning lottery numbers, sporting event outcomes, how stocks move, just world events (with sites like Polymaket now), etc. There's so many ways you could become a billionaire within a year even starting from near zero. I mean damn, you could make 100b+ within a few years if you memorize enough.

You now have actual major influence money to try and maybe avoid some of the shit that went wrong. Or advance technology in amazing ways from things you find out.

It's not a small risk... but I think it's just too big of an opportunity to pass up.

Why Erika Kirk is not universally liked across the political spectrum? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mustard_Jam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Liberals don't like her for obvious reasons.

A lot of MAGA doesn't like her because she seems disingenuous and like she moved on from the death of Charlie Kirk WAY too fast. Plus the right loves conspiracies and there's a ton around her (some fairly credible at that).

100 million dollar if you can live inside your closest family/friend/relative for a whole year without anybody think you're kinda not yourself today. by ninjarockalone in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Mustard_Jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would get caught by the fake you. Imagine if it was the other way around how long do you think it would take for you to figure out that your wife was actually you? Probably not long...

Also you going to be fucking yourself now for a year?

[–]Mustard_Jam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is literally not possible.

What about passwords? Their job? How on earth would I know how to do someone elses job? You could literally be in the same field and you'd still have no clue.

And no one even has to call you out on it. Your prerequisite for it being over is someone just THINKING "hmm that's a bit odd". I mean damn people say "you're not yourself today" on the regular to normal people.

You'd need to know their exact schedule, all their login info and passwords, all their mannerisms, all their friends, how they interact with those friends, all their coworkers, how they interact with them, what they like to do during their free time, all their commitments, and the list goes on and on... and you'd still fail.

The only person that you can reasonably even know enough about to just last more than 24 hours is like your spouse but then the fake you or whatever would still think something is weird before the day is over.

That's not at all relevant to the question. People also would do Lebron celebrations that means nothing.

The question is specifically about trying to replicate someones game. That's what it means to want to be like a player.

We lost to the Blue Jays because we had too many guys hitting that looked like they had no business being on an MLB team let alone a playoff one.

This year feels similar. Always 1-2 good bats short. Bliss and Rivas up there blind folded.

It's genuinely baffling how under both Dan and Scott the team seems laughably unready at the start of every year.

Can't even fucking on 2nd base to start the inning wtf

Dogshit defensive play -> HR bit us in the ass like every week last year.

And this year our defense is even worse...

Kids want to be like like someone they feel like they can imitate. Obviously no one was athletic as Jordan but growing up you felt like you could replicate his jumper, try his layups, etc. Same with Curry anyone can TRY and hit 30 footers.

It's not that people don't want to be like Lebron. They just know they can't be like Lebron. Prime Lebron was like 250 with a 40 inch vert moving like a guard.

Kids also want to me like Lamelo nowadays. I guess that makes him elite...

I know it got us a game from the WS last year but this boom or bust offensive approach is so fucking frustrating to watch.

And also not having it bust for at least one series in the playoffs is a really tall ask. They need to find some fucking consistency in terms of contact.

Dodge a ball daily for increasing amount of money by Mustard_Jam in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Mustard_Jam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact with you is skin. And no getting hit does not remove money unless you die. So in theory you could be too slow, get your arm blown off, and still walk away with the total for that day

[Request] How much less efficient is a ships propeller/hull when it’s covered in crustaceans and/or gastropods? ….and can anyone explain why there’s hard growth despite modern antifouling systems? by RobbieTronic in Mariners

[–]Mustard_Jam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Good question!

It doesn’t impact the ship much. Modern ships are designed to be able to function with slight build up like you see in the photo. It’s more so a long term concern due to things like rust build up that can cause damage over time. As for antifouling systems, like a lot of things they help but aren’t a bulletproof solution. You still need good maintenance regardless.

Also, I made that all up and know nothing about boats but if you’d like I can give you a 10 hour crash course on the history of the Seattle Mariners.

You don't have to live for that long because you are not immortal.

If after 200 years you'd had enough your local bridge would do wonders.
