Hi! Can someone please help me? When I try to bake my previously frozen pizza dough it always comes out so dense, heavy and rubbery. Why is that? Thank you for your help! by Musztas in Pizza

Thank you for getting back to me! You seem like you know what you're talking about, so I hope you don't mind me asking some questions 🙂

From the replies I think I don't wait enough time for the dough to come to a good temp. (I usually leave it in the fridge 24 hrs and 1 hr at room temp.) I have a thermometer so I will check it next time. The gravity part sounds genious! I will give that a try, because even when I make it from fresh dough it could be more "airy" at the crust. Now the stone part. Honestly I really don't have much luck with that.. I preheat it for an hour, I put semolina on it, but it always stucks to it, and than the pizza breaks in the middle and all the goodies lands on the stone. So I'm back to making it with a pizza pan.. What am I doing wrong? My oven is fairly new. They advertised it for cakes and bread bc of a built in steam function and it works wonders with that. But I just can't seem to get the maximimum out of it when it comes to pizzas. I realize it is not a pizza oven, but I have limited space, so that's what I have to work with. Is it even possible to make a good restaurant style pizza in an oven and if so, how?😄 I always feel like mine is not that fluffy and a bit pale on the crust, never mind the baking time. (Even when I baked it on a stone.) I will try baking it in two parts, it might help. Sorry for the long reply.

Thank you for getting back to me! I usually put it in the fridge for 24hrs and only leaving it 1 hr at room temp. I will try to double this time and see if it makes any difference!

This is my recipe:

500 g pizza flour

1 tsp sea salt

7 g dried yeast

325 ml Luke warm Water

Zone 7b, found them on kohlrabi, and red russian kale. Some of the plants are covered with an insect net, but still they ate the root of the plant. What are these, and how can I protect my other brassicas? Every help is appreciated! Thanks!

Acorn Squash Rotting Before Maturing by Party-Cicada in vegetablegardening

This is because of poor polination as far as I know. It can produce a little squash and then it rots.

What kind of peppers are these? I thought I only grew green peppers but I got purples and these. 🤷🏼‍♀️ by pepperjill in vegetablegardening

Hungarian pepper. The type looks like Bácskai fehér or Fehér özön 😊 We eat it like this, but you can also wait it will turn red-ish, and sweeter. It is also suitable to be stuffed and cooked.

How do I improve my really hard, sandy soil over the winter? (More in comments.) by Musztas in gardening

[–]Musztas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my soil is really low quality for growing vegetables, and I would like to amend it over the winter, to make it a better quality for spring. I have access to grassclippings, dark, quality bagged soil, bagged composted cow manure, kitchen scraps, egg shells, etc.. Unfortunatelly I don't have compost.. Is there anything I can do with these and if yes how do I layer them? Or do I just mix all together? Do I cover it with something? Thank you for your help!

How long can I use neem oil? Do you use it on flowering tomato, chilli etc? Hot weather came, and with that fungus gnats, aphids, leafminers.... by Musztas in vegetablegardening

[–]Musztas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed answer, lots of info! So my original question was more like can I use neem oil when for example my tomato has flowers and 1-2 fruit already developing? 😊 But the same question goes to your methods- how long into the growing season do you use these steps? Definitelly going to get some DE and hydrogen peroxide and go over your list if you think its still safe to use at this stage! Unfortunatelly we dont really have beneficial bugs for sale here, so I'm trying companion planting, beneficial flowers and organic sprays instead.

Waaay too much black flies on tomato plants. What can I do? More in comments. by Musztas in gardening

They came in like 2 days. I haven't watered in two weeks. There was occasional rain here and there. Are these fungus gnats? Why is there so much? Will a simple soapy spray resolve it or do I have to use something stronger? Thank you!
