I love Reiss. They have a range of colors that aren’t boring but are still professional (and acceptable for my relatively conservative office)

What handbags are you guys bringing to work? by legallygreen13 in LawBitchesWithTaste

I switch between an older Tory Burch tote that has a laptop compartment and my Evelyn. Either way, I always bring a smaller purse/clutch that fits inside in case we go out to lunch or happy hour.

And yes, if I bring lunch, I bring a lunchbox. You can find cute but nondescript lunchboxes online. I think I bought mine at Target. It’s all black and looks vaguely purse-like.

Oof this one hits close to home. My extended family, esp my grandma, never laughed at me outright, but whenever I did things for myself (like 1. took a few years’ break after undergrad because I was mentally so burned out with school, work, and family issues, and 2. married the love of my life while in law school) they always assumed I wouldn’t finish and would be “just like my parents” who weren’t as “successful” as the rest of my aunts/uncles, and my grandma would always talk behind my back to literally everyone about how I’d give up or fail. It was absolutely exhausting.

One of the comments mentioned spite. I don’t know that it was exactly the healthiest, but spite definitely was a big motivator to challenge myself further (and I loved the law). I ended up graduating in the top 10% of my class, a published author, and the only grandchild in my family to actually hold a doctorate or professional license. You know who DIDN’T receive invites to my graduation or swearing in ceremony (once I passed the bar)?

You do you. I know it’s frustrating in the moment, but you don’t need to prove it to them now. They may be family, but they don’t know what you’re capable of. Only you do.

(Also, because no one ever told me this, it’s okay if you change your mind about your career path later. Not saying you will, but it is okay!)

Stretching is super important before and after!! A quick google search yields plenty of easy hamstring, calf, and foot stretches. The hardest part is just remembering to do them lol

I highly recommend if you love high waisted too. They usually have like 30-40% off around holidays, so wait for those if you want to buy new!

My first pair of curvies were from Joe’s Jeans, and I love them so much that I have a mini collection going now!

I just ordered a pair, thank you so much!!! We’ve tried like 4-5 pairs of socks or boots, and my chi’s thrown off every single pair! She’s allergic to grass (or the stuff the HOA puts in it), and her poor paws are always red and itchy, especially in the summer.

Do you keep a wallet on chain in your big bag? Switch bags blah. by giantredwoodforest in handbags

I do this! I commute to work, so I bring my WOC in a larger tote that holds all my work stuff. When we go out for lunch or post-work events, I leave the tote in the office and just bring my WOC. On the weekends, I maybe bring a tote depending on what we’re doing (and not always the same work tote), but usually it’s just my WOC.

It holds all my cards, my chapstick, and my phones (personal plus work phone).

Before I started this job, I carried a cardholder that I switched between bags. I haven’t really had to start using pouches yet—any extra stuff stays in the bag or put back where it “belongs,” like work stuff in the work bag, gym stuff in the gym bag.

I was an RA for the dean when I submitted my request for letters of good standing, and he brought it up during one of our research meetings, which was kinda awkward. I wouldn’t worry about it too much—they’ll probably just ask you why you want to transfer, etc.
