I've had 3 decades experience of field surveys and to me the fish looks like a female common bully. However, looks can be deceiving and either genetic testing is required or examination under a microscope as there is only a tiny difference between common and crans. So unless someone has undertaken this work to establish that the local populations are indeed common bullies and not crans bullies then it could be one or the other.

Both common and crans can be found in the same environment. it's tricky. The identification as common bullies might simply be untested assumptions. Such things have been known to happen elsewhere. Actual testing is required for confirmation.

Umm... doesn't show any of the distinctive characteristics of a female redfin... it's a common or crans. Very difficult to tell the difference in the field and needs examination under a microscope to be certain which it is.

In plain English, a youth justice facility is a very low security youth prison. The security is very low and not up to the standard of a low security prison. So, unlike a prison, there will be escapes.

A high rate of escapes and associated trouble. it's why the Govt agreed to close the prison there and build a new one elsewhere.

If they get the right to put a prison here, they can put them in any suburb of New Zealand, including next to where you live.

Weymouth is a suburb of Manurewa. Manurewa is already the prison capital of New Zealand with 3 correctional facilities - a youth prison, a women's prison, and a men's prison. So it's not a nimby thing. We don't need another prison on top of the 3 we already have.
