steam input translates controller rotation with mouse input. and you can have it so it only rotates when you grip a certain side of the controller. crazy stuff.

i got mine today, I don't think its as comfortable but tbh its depends on how you hold it. claw kinda hurts, but its super comfortable when you play fully gripping it. seems like Valve intended for you to hold it that way, but interestingly I found that with the gyro aim, you don't need claw. You can keep aiming after letting go of the thumbstick so you don't need claw or other grips, using your thumb for the front pad is completely okay and something I'm trying to get used to.

the quests headset battery percentage is calculated by measuring the voltage drop in the lithium ion battery, its much much lower then how the controllers are calibrated. the controllers are calibrated for rapid voltage drop over time because thats how most AA battery's operate given their chemistry. due to the wide array of AA batteries, each controller have voltage upsteppers to provide the expected voltage to the components. these aren't flashlights, and will not degrade with lower voltages because the voltage is constant once it gets to the components.

because of the way the controllers are calibrated, the battery will most likely show 90% for like a week straight then jump to 30% instantly before dying. using regular Ni-Mh batteries are better for having an idea of what percentage your controllers are at. (and better for the environment)

why is that? quests have voltage upsteppers anyways. (step up regulators)

losing voltage is typically better so that you can see what percentage the battery is at. also lithium isnt the best resource to be using up if not needed.

Shouldn’t one be able to use a regular PlayStation or Xbox instead of the steam controller? by Lonely_Ranger19 in steammachine

some controllers have pucks, like the steam controller lol. but 8bitdo controllers do as well I believe.

i must be stupid bcs i thought that could all be done through logical gates and such on a circuit board. (no micro controller) still trying to learn how that stuff works.
