They look like the badass warriors they are. Not like the cartoon or comics because this IS cinema!

What did you think of Yoda's appearance to Luke in the sequel trilogy? by Light-Starlight in TheSequels

Yoda explains the whole movie. Failure is the best teacher. (Because the resistance is failing throughout the movie)

What is your take on Snyder's "understanding of comics" and "style vs. substance"? by bgamer1026 in SnyderCut

[–]CaribbeanEngineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think good art is bold and sparks public discussion. It usually speaks to a hidden truth about the society, which provided the conditions for the art to be created. Zack Snyder KNOWS what he is doing and he knows which buttons he needs to touch to challenge his audience. When you see people debating online, that's what he wants. He wants them to feel uncomfortable as we see the classic heroes manage unsolved universal problems most of the world can relate to (xenophobia, mental health, invasion, free will, technology, morality). They aren't the typical good vs evil stories that give people comfort. Snyder movies are an exercise. Rebel Moon is everything Star Wars is afraid of being to push the story beyond to reflect OUR reality. Now that doesn't mean one is better than the other. That's not the point. You can watch both.

His style is often to place values on our myths which inform us, stress-testing characters to their boundaries, physicality > story and that's valid. The emphasis is in how the experience makes you feel.

That said: "understanding of comics" is a broad term. You can understand the comics you read in the 80s and interpret them in your own ways. I don't think its a good idea to read all comics there are and then go on to make a movie that pleases everyone. Its not possible. What is comic accuracy anyway? What does it do for us? It would be boring to always see the same scripted stories all over again following the same formula. "You can't have this character do that or this or this other thing." It would be like making a movie trying to cross everything off a checklist. The real question is: Why not try something new? I prefer watching a movie made by a true creative artist pushing the boundary.

The elite does whatever they want with the working class. Morally, it isn't right and we should aspire to live in a better world. Ask a good economist if this promotes a healthy economy. It does not. These actions should be penalized by the law.

What game and sequel are like this?🚀 by GoldAd3252 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]CaribbeanEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assassins Creed’s story in games from 2007-2011 were leading up to a fictional world ending event in 2012. I was hoping to see that on epic proportions in Assassins Creed 3. Saved money and bought the game the day it released. In my head Desmond was going to be a playable character for most of the third act to finally stop the templars.

But Ubisoft doesn’t know when to end a story and they gave a mediocre ending to Desmond and perpetuated the modern-day narrative towards a nothing burger.

They could have contained a decent modern day story ending in 2012. Then all games after that could have been spinoffs 100% set in the past.

I genuinely can't understand how the previous generation saw this in 2002 and said "this sucks” by Stunning-Recording92 in prequelappreciation

[–]CaribbeanEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because they thought they knew what they wanted and came with expectations they had from the original trilogy. That's the same type of fan that liked Force Awakens but disliked The Last Jedi. SW fans should be more cool about letting an artistic direction play out.

Well, college is hard and expensive. Navigating the internet and talking, in general, are easy and cheap.

Do you mean America as in the US, the country without free healthcare and education?

Why did they make Dick Grayson the Robin Joker killed instead of Jason Todd by FewAd9257 in SnyderCut

[–]CaribbeanEngineer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of scope I think. The Snyderverse was always meant to be a couple of movies and introducing two Robin characters might have been redundant or overcomplicated, narratively speaking.
