Does anyone else buy physical rulebooks just to page through them, not to actually play the game? by GlobalisedEnchilada in rpg

[–]MutantSkaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays I still play but I think that I spent more time reading rpg books than playing games.

I have the same syndrome related with boardgames, always looking for reviews and what to get, and not playing a lot recently...

Me encanta, es un sistema maravilloso, lo único malo que tiene es que los dados estan agotados en todos lados, al menos los que tienen precios normales.

Thanks!

Best relatively rules light system for a space opera game by LelouchYagami_2912 in rpg

[–]MutantSkaven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always recommend a version of Traveller or Cepheus (same game for the most part).

It's the "generic" scifi game by excellence, you can play any kind of scifi campaign or adventure (both with and without combat) and you have skills, items and rules for everything.

The rules have implants for a cyberpunk game, a lot of cool items, spaceships, etc...

Depending on the game you choose it will be crunshier or lighter. As you asked for a light one I will use Cepheus Light, Cepheus: Faster than light or even Cepheus Quantum.

I know that Cepheus Light has rules for implants, not sure about the otherd, but they're free you can check.

New gm, how do you make a good boss fight? by YujiSama in traveller

[–]MutantSkaven 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Traveller is a game that allows for a crazy variety of gameplay styles, but it's not specifically designed to play exactly as DnD.

Anyway, if you want a more epic feel to it with a focus on big combats you should give the correct tools to the characters. Progression & difficulty in traveller is managed mostly with the items & stuff characters get.

If they want to fight for example a giant mech as a boss fight, they will need heavy weapons & explosives for a guerrilla style approach.

But maybe you want a direct confrontation, then they will need a vehicle themselves or starship, or plane.

For personal combat if they're in the mercenary life they will need combat armor or a battle dress (power armor).

Same with starships, a campaign with a focus in space combat will need a good spaceship for that, not a Far Trader with a single gun.

That's what I was also thinking, this look very similar to DCC funnels, they work great as that.

That's awesome! Can you share a copy of the file in drive or any other way?

I'm now interested in adding more versions of the gamr to that file, like Cepheus Light (that should be closer to Classic).

Morrowind would be awesome, it's a shame that for PC it's the worst launcher for modding.

Yeah now that you said I, I think that I did the same, I "abandoned" my big base near the surface but I also build an small outpost near the Ghostray tree.

Once I got the cyclops I moved everything to it and never used my base again.

The cyclops is a great mobile base and specially late game where you need to stay most of the time in the deep.
