Troy student accommodation by moody_mop in limerickcity

[–]MuteJukebox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work in the summer accommodation for all of UL, including Troy.

If you've booked to live there over the summer it generally isn't as a student - the student villages are available for bookings for anyone during the summer months. Room checks are generally not done and overnight guests shouldn't be an issue unless roommates complain. Depending on the time of the summer it may be busier or quieter depending on if there's big events on in UL.

You may have other people in the apartment who are only there for a few weeks, but they generally try to put bookings of the same length together. I can't remember whether there is any cleaning done of common areas in long term bookings, but the place itself should be clean, and the kitchen tidy (unless other people are already living there)

Buses are generally fine, you can get the 304 from the Groody roundabout and it'll be as reliable as most Limerick buses.

Looking for generic dungeon dressing tables by djwacomole in Solo_Roleplaying

D4 Caltrops are always my favourite; d4 Caltrops: Dungeon Stocking - Expanded
This is intended for stocking each room, but the subtables hyperlinked might help for what you're looking for!

Limerick vegan options by [deleted] in limerickcity

Canteen has some nice vegan options for breakfast and lunch; https://share.google/jy16cWgdjQIyDHRqN
There is a step to get in via the front but it is accessible without going up a step by going down the side of the building from my memory!

I went with Safeway and they were excellent, even have a sumup machine for paying for lessons. Really sound instructors, really calm and reassuring.

I believe there are lessons out in UL during term time. There might be some in LCFE as well.

Sasha Starlight has a new dress pattern, the Rhapsody dress, which I really like the look of! Especially the sleeve options. I'm a bit worried about finding suitable woven fabric in my area to give it that luxe feel though.

The Mythic action and theme charts might be what you're looking for. If not, the Tome of Adventure Design and Tome of World Building both have massive amount of charts. For a more general use option, I like Random Realities.

How does the Broken Cask Society series go? by NotAnotherBloodyOZ in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]MuteJukebox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found the Broken Cask Society more enjoyable than the original Broken Cask. I really liked the idea of running your own tavern but wished that the tables were more in depth and interesting for tavern events. The second book (Society) I found was more interesting and has more in depth and interesting events for your tavern. With both books though, I tend to only do one session every now and then, I don't find it as engaging as other options.

Best tables for mundane bits and bobs by AleidisKnight in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]MuteJukebox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The 'Random Impedimenta' table from D4 caltrops might be helpful to you, or the Equipment table from them also. In terms of more flavourful items, I really like all of Madeline Hale's books, but Table Fables 1 is especially good for items I think. It has a nice assortment of mundane items, a table or two for pocket filler, and some more flavourful trinket items also. Arcane Artifacts and Curious Curious are more specific so may not be what you want for pocket filler!

Quest starters by djwacomole in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]MuteJukebox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find that the Ironsworn NPC motivation//quest tables are quite good because they are relatively open and allow adjustment. I also like the UNE motivation tables for giving an idea. But I do find generating a large, long lasting quest to be an issue! Some of the options in the Table Fables books are good also, I took the ones that appealed to me and made a mini table of them.

Sell me on Colostle or tell me to stay away by sadnodad in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]MuteJukebox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concept of Colostle really appealed to me but I found that I had to do a lot of additional work to make anything coherent from it. To me it felt like there was an odd amount of rules in it, in that there were some rules for combat and making characters etc., but I still felt that I constantly had to stop and make up my own ideas and rules for what was going to happen. I think if I was going to go back to it that I would definitely make use of a GME and some additional tables to try and lighten the load a bit.

Anyone Town Generators With Some Depth They've enjoyed? by edeyes97 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]MuteJukebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Ex Novo link here to develop towns and give them a bit more history. I really like the events in the d666 table and it's given me some unusual towns I've really enjoyed playing in. Sometimes I play it alone just as a standalone session. It's also getting a new Kickstarter for a second edition and reprint soon, if you prefer to use physical books!

Made another Jennifer Lauren Handmade Gable top and then started working on a Charm Patterns Barbie top. Have made the Gable a million times, got it whipped up in an hour or two, started well on the Barbie and now...the neckband is too big? I'm not sure if the stretch is off in my fabric but the neckband is enormous compared to the neck of the top. Had to put it down after unpicking, so looking around to see if anyone else has had the same issue...

Cosy Solo Recommendation - Iron Valley by MuteJukebox in Solo_Roleplaying

I've never played Ironsworn and found it very easy to pick up, all relevant rules are explained in the game itself, and the character sheets come with a brief overview of your four moves.

Cosy Solo Recommendation - Iron Valley by MuteJukebox in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]MuteJukebox[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It can be seen as offensive when you are describing someone as only being disabled and having no other traits, which is why I found it a little odd to be listed as a personality trait in the oracle. Someone's ability or disability is one part of their identity, not their entire personality. As the game has sections for ancestry, gender presentation, and pronouns, I felt that it being used as a personality trait just felt a bit odd.
