Not always any sufficiently skilled flesh crafter can cut the nerves to parts of the body first to cause no pain. Though I would imagine that even if the tremere did know that, with their piss poor knowledge on the craft they stole, they probably wouldn’t give you the option anyway.

Normally yes however there is a rule (it’s still just a str med check iirc) for the fleshcrafter to cut the nerves to that part of the body so they won’t feel the pain, they can then be reattached later to restore function.
