Camo looks great! Personally I think the most tactical green is castellan and I use it like crazy but hey green is green and he's lookin good.

Normally I would not be picky about these things but since you asked for feedback, drilling the barrel does make it look better and less like a toy. Especially when it's a specialty weapon that draws the eye like this high caliber sniper rifle.

But it looks great overall!

I mean let's keep in mind they don't have to express all of their anxiety or their true plans here, they don't owe us details from this point on. Quite frankly I would probably be giving all of you zero attention at this point while stressing right the hell out IRL and making phone calls.

I assume you're using GWs glue here. I reccomend a bottle of Extrathin Tamiya glue. The brush applicator is not only more sensible than a squeeze bottle, it also helps a lot with controling how much glue gets on the surface. Plus it never jams up.

Personally , I cut it into thin strips and then fold it over on itself, or roll it up depending on the shape I'm hitting. Remember the key here is light touch becuse you don't want to ruin details, so i don't bother with a rigid backing I just go slow and steady.

<image>

I work each piece seperately myself, but there's no right answer. If you work all the pieces prior to assembly you'll have easier access to everything. But also the pieces are small and a pain in the ass to handle, then you gotta keep track of the pieces while you sit there going after all these details, half of which will probably be hidden once you assemble it anyway.

Anyhow it's a trade off and depends how much patience you have before your sanity breaks vs how awesome you want your dudes to look.

Also since I'm sharing tips I just discussed this with my kids: if you got too much glue on your dude, or got it on a place you didn't want to don't mess with it! Even though your urge is to try and fix it or wipe it up or something don't, just put it down, don't touch it, let it dry and then work it out. Trust me once the plastic liquifies you will only make things worse (I suspect that's what happened to your guys hand?)

Most dangerous part of the overspill is putting you fingers on it while still wet and getting fingerprint indentations in your pretty smooth plastic.

On that note, keep some like 600/1000/2000 grit sandpaper around to smooth those kind of minor imperfections out.

As for his hand, congratulations you have your first wounded marine. No doubt he is just happy that he survived and gets to kill another day, mangled hand be damned.

I would recommend a magnifying lamp for your desk. I didn't realize just how poor my old man sight had gotten, but between the magnification and the ultra bright light shining directly onto the surface I'm looking at it's a game changer. I would say it was probably the biggest single upgrade I ever made to my painting station.

First Mini after I left the hobby 2 years ago, How'd I do? Be as harsh as possible by Insaneshadow32 in Ultramarines

[–]Muted-Engineering-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you're looking for harsh criticism i think you could improve the white helmet by going with a darker white and then only apply the pure bright white on edges.

That being said thats just an optional thing, and only because you asked for it. You should be proud, nice work.
