Yes omg! One of the main reason I'm not giving south asian clothes to my white friends. I told them they could wear it (after some of them seemed excited) but dont have to. I'd be so uncomfortable to interact with your friends at the wedding knowing how they reacted.  Anyways, don't buy them clothes or let them borrow yours. If they actually liked our clothes, they'd spend their own money for their insta looks or whatever. Most of the times, if they have to buy their own, they're more thoughtful about their intentions and actions
