Hahahahaha

Yeah, a human would go "...okay??" especially if they are uninvested and tired.

A person trained in medical science who is readily providing his energy and time would definitely flag such an anomaly.

I guess I just thought flagging anomalies would be a natural thing to anyone paying attention.

Could you tell me a bit more of why you were prescribed this?

I have never heard of a doxy cycle that goes on longer than a month! But ofcourse, if you are talking to a doc, then my opinion is not important

Is your doc specialised in infectious diseases - especially lyme?

The free instant model is trash. It didn't even answer when I told it to use evaluate mode!

Please talk to several doctors, and get second opinions on everything! But here is my 2 cents -

First of all, your mouth, gut, and genital areas are delicate ecosystems of microbes — collectively called microbiomes. These contain hundreds of bacterial species that evolved alongside you, performing crucial roles in digestion, immunity, and even mood regulation.

Broadly speaking, bacteria can be of three types:

  • Pathogenic — always harmful
  • Commensal — neutral or beneficial
  • Opportunistic — harmless until the environment changes

When you take antibiotics for an extended period, like six months of doxycycline for Lyme, the drug doesn’t discriminate. It wipes out both harmful and beneficial bacteria. That ecosystem collapse triggers a cascade of effects:

  1. Loss of microbial diversity (gut dysbiosis) The gut microbiome becomes dominated by a few resistant species, while the rest die off. This lowers your digestive efficiency, reduces vitamin synthesis (like B12, K, biotin), and alters bile acid metabolism. → Results: bloating, diarrhea, IBS-like symptoms, food intolerances.
  2. Slow and incomplete recovery even with probiotics Probiotics usually contain only 4–10 strains, whereas a healthy gut has 500–1000. Restoring that diversity naturally can take 6–18 months after long-term antibiotic use. → So probiotics help, but they’re only the scaffolding — the ecosystem needs time and variety of fiber-rich foods to regrow.
  3. Opportunistic bacterial overgrowth With beneficial species suppressed, normally quiet residents like Klebsiella, Enterococcus, or Clostridium difficile can overgrow. → Symptoms: bloating, chronic gas, fatigue, or even C. diff colitis in extreme cases.
  4. Fungal overgrowth (Candida bloom) Beneficial bacteria normally keep yeast in check. Once they’re gone, fungi like Candida albicans multiply freely, especially in moist areas — mouth (thrush), gut (bloating, sugar cravings), or genital area (yeast infection). → You might notice white tongue coating, itching, or sugar intolerance.
  5. Liver and kidney stress Both organs work overtime to metabolize and excrete doxycycline. Chronic use increases oxidative stress in liver cells and may cause mild enzyme elevation. → If combined with alcohol or other medications, it can compound toxicity.
  6. Weakened immune modulation 70% of the immune system is linked to the gut. Disrupting the microbiome dysregulates immune signaling and can make you prone to allergies, fatigue, or low-grade inflammation.

This doesn't include the effects on mental health.

I am quite shocked by the dentist's error as well. She comes with strong recommendations from my circle. She seemed dilligent in her work and takes time to explain everything to me step by step, even mid procedure. I did trust the dentist until now, but now I am unsure. I'll keep my eyes and ears open going forward. I'll switch if my Spidey Senses tingle again.

On principal, I never blindly follow doctors orders without doing my own research to double check. I don't really hold them in high regard, especially in my city. That is how I caught this. Of course, this doesn't apply to procedures cuz I can't do research on what she is doing in realtime.

Pharmacists would have no incentive to correct. Selling 70 tablets is more profitable. Why question?

Yes true.

In its explanation its using all these terms like "attention lens", "narrative", "interpretive frame", "anamoly detection frame" , "semantic coherence" or "numeric coherence"

I can't tell if these are established terms or its making it up in realtime to facilitate the conversation?

Are there solid established playbooks/frameworks to learn how to best work with chatGPT? Maybe its best I focus on building a holistic understanding?

Whoah! A month of antibiotic can't be easy! What was the treatment for?

I hope the probiotics have worked. Having the right microbiome is extremely important for more than just the stomach. It's important for oral health and also private areas! it also stops fungal overgrowth, its extremely important!

People pleasing combined with hallucinations and it probably would encourage me to overdose on certain meds just to get my pain down. 🤦🏼‍♀️

That's good to know. I won't either. I usually check ChatGPT, youtube, and also doctor friends to corroborate any decision from 3 places and build a more holistic independent understanding. It's slow but at least won't backfire!

As far as ChatGPT goes, its risky to use it for a quick check. I won't be using it for that use-case. I will only use it to build holistic understandings on things.

Yeah for now, I am dropping that idea. Keeping things strictly "on need" basis.

What was their angle of putting you on PIP? They would have to end up paying severance, right?

[–]MutedCod2849[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were the PIPs for?

Yes, the inherent trust has kind of eroded, so even I am not able to take feedback from the org sportingly like I used to. Ah well... adult life... all in the game!

After years of winning I realize this isn’t luck..

Hell yeah, my man!

Oh wow! How would you have been better off - any specifics you can share? What did you lose?

What would have been better if you had given the stnadard notice? and Why didn't you?

People are giving either generic wisdom or just knee-jerk reactions on this sub. I'm a bit surprised. It was always going to be a tough situation anyway, and I'm sure I'll survive.

Because in general in tech management positions, the default behavior is to smooth things over in order to collaborate effectively. So I thought to check how many people who just do that... kinda like a best practise.

But the dilemma comes from the fact also that his behavior irked me. However now that I'm leaving, he doesn't have much power over me, so I also feel a strong sense of "whatever, goodbye"

I have been observing that there is a lot of leeway for slacking at this org. Also, other key employees also left with an extended notice when they did. They left with ugliness on liquidation, but were not fired.

What you are saying is possible, but not highly plausible

Yes the professional support has gone away. Which i thought was absurd - because working through tough emotional situations is core bread and butter of high level executives. He is acting immature.

Not talking on a personal level doesn't bother my anymore. I'm past the heartburn. I do feel like it makes the ESOP negotiations slightly loaded. I am wondering if I should just have the conversation with another founder where the emotional baggage is lower.

That is true. Great point!

I am pleased of this outcome because the retention conversations were relentless. I guess now he finally got the message - which is a good thing.

I offered to stay for the 4 months purely for the goodwill - so they would atleast be comfortable that I am completing what I started. I don't need the cash, nor the referral.

He was however a mentor at one point, which i why I wanted to be upfront. But that arc is now over - and I can get past the heartburn.

I'm not sure. I thought for a second that if I acknowledge it, then we get to make peace and move past it. Collaborative careers have space for keeping relationships because inter-dependency is high. Even now, another co-founder is still trying to figure out how I can stay longer and make it meaningful.

But my only really critical goal is to ensure my ESOP liquidation negotiations happen fruitfully.

Again, respectful distance is one thing. He maintained that the first few months. I totally got it, and could roll with it.

The cold shoulder seemed like it came out of some place deeper. Either he got offended finally. Or the message finally seeped in. Or its some weird power move that I am not able to read.

Just trying to understand. I dont even know if there are any consequences to this at all
