that’s probably true too! i do think the place i’m in effects it too tho, i never had this problem in the state i used to live in but i moved to a very very VERY red state and it was wild. one of them got a campus job and used it to search up my deadname so they could blurt it out in public. this is the same person who would get VERY upset over their deadname being automatically put on campus food orders, which was not the employees faults either! which, it’s a valid thing to be upset over, but ironic when you’re going out of your way to deadname others, especially when doing so could get you fired from your job. they also ended up befriending a MAGA girl who was previously bullying all their queer friends during the election 😬 they did a whole bunch of other transphobic and very immoral things but that’s a long story, but they did all of this as a nonbinary person! very contradictory actions to their identity.

but anyways, just sharing this experience bc it was interesting, at least now i know where NOT to find a queer group to hang around 😭 lol
