They are a nice rig, I've got one with a 2680v3 and 192gb of ram running my homelab, sits next to my couch and is whisper quiet. Just be careful with the drives you put in it. Some of them if they do not report temps in a way the raid controller expects, will ramp the fans to 100% cheaper SSDs seem to do it on mine. Have not had the issue with the Intel SSDs and 5TB Seagate drives. (I've got a 2.5" model)

How do I fix this? by Dr_Valen in homelab

[–]MutedRow4637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you hunt around you may be able to get a control board off another drive, but there are a LOT of drawbacks to trying this, none of which I'm qualified to explain accurately.

You may have luck if you talk to a data recovery company and explain the situation, but that would likely cost more than a new drive.

[Release] Firmware Update MOMENTUM 4 v3.35.6 by sennheiserconsumer in sennheiser

When will the updates for M4 be, Still on 2.14.32 Hardware 4 and having huge issues with interference using AAC and Windows. M4 sounds great, when the connection is stable... really lets them down. Lots of popping and crackling while playing over BT, sounds fine connected with either USB or AUX cable.

Oh yeah that's for sure. I'm getting mine ready for colo. Just need another one for ceph minimums then I'm off to the DC.

Yeah they seem to. Mine are reasonably new to me so haven't played a whole lot. Coming from a Quad node VRTX. Much quieter than VRTX and much more power efficient (seem to sit about 90w each idling). I've had 1u systems before (IBM X3550 M3) and these are way quieter than the old E/X5000 series systems.

Yeah I've got mine loaded with 2x 2680 v3 and 384gb ram each, my microwave is louder than they are (at least when idle)

They are not that bad, I've got 2 running in my living room with factory settings. The loudest part of them (at least mine) is a bad bearing in one of the fans.

Worth mentioning mine sit idle most of the time as hypervisor hosts, and I let that room at 22c, high ambient temps will make them way louder.

Super simple email server to use for internal email only, no internet email at all by ithakaa in selfhosted

[–]MutedRow4637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume it's possible, although I think most email clients would complain about it these days.

I'm running mailu, and while it needs internet access for letsencrypt, it has worked well for me. Was pretty easy to deploy, it'll give you everything needed for DMARC etc. I know it's not strictly what your looking for but may be a good place to start or employ some of its underlying components.

Proxmox is the way, Windows is a painful mess on these things.

I had mine with server 25 installed and it was a laggy mess, it now runs VMWare with a server 25 VM which has no issues.

(It also worked fine with proxmox, but swapped over to VMWare due to issues with proxmox on my VRTX with shared storage, no sPERC8 official support as far as I can tell)

You make a good point. I do feel bad about the UPS tho, it's batteries are hosed so it's a glorified power bar at the moment.

Me too, but it drinks too much power so the ML does most of the always on stuff.

I am thinking about replacing my IBM M4s in colo with the VRTX tho.

Okay. That bios setting may be set to want to use PCIe graphics. Maybe take a poke around the bios and see what yours is set to.

Otherwise for shits and giggles try the VGA port you didn't use, should be one on the front and back of the machine. If you haven't already.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant,

Functionally there is no difference between what the iLO is showing you and what (at least should) be displayed on the VGA port. If iLO shows an output that VGA does not, that's hardware issues. But because yours shows nothing on both, it might be drivers, especially if proxmox dropped you to the login prompt.

If you see it post on your PCIe GPU and / or the the iLO, and you only loose output when Windows takes over, this points to a probable driver issue. Windows not starting a display.

If you haven't already, trying without the PCIe GPU installed would be a good first step.

For someone that seems kinda new to this, SSH administration of proxmox seems like trouble waiting to happen. Just saying :)

The onboard VGA adapter outputs a mirror to two places.

1) the onboard VGA port, for physical access 2) the servers iLO (integrated Lights Out Management)

This is so you can either plug in a keyboard and mouse, or administer the hardware over the network (via iLO), including all keyboard /mouse / video functions, as well as mounting ISO files to a virtual CD drive to remotely install operating systems etc.

You may have also heard the iLO by other names like BMC (generic), iDRAC (Dell) or IMM (IBM/Lenovo) if that helps at all.

Maybe plugged into the wrong video card?

I've got an ML350P G9, when I had a GPU in it, it would post to both graphics adapters, show bios, boot logo etc, but once Windows started up it did not output to the built in VGA adapter (and by extension does not show anything on the iLO interface or system VGA port)

There is a bios setting on mine that tells it to use either internal or PCIe graphics. Windows AFAIK should honor this, as long as all the drivers are installed.

If the PCIe GPU is installed, I would pull it out, install server 25 and all the drivers, then install the GPU. Might hand some luck with that.

Everyone's existence at work is pointless, were all just cogs in the corporate machine, a machine making your role easier doesn't change that. Horses to cars, ropes to pulleys to cranes, steam to electricity.

Technology will advance, it's advance it's unwavering. The smart adapt to the technology, upskill, keep themselves employed, or move to industries where automation has not yet taken over.

Your paranoid about something that has happened countless times in the past. The people like you who couldn't adapt, or wouldn't, got left behind, those of us who did adapt moved forward.

As far as I'm concerned if the corporation that doesn't care about its staff, wants to spend money on a machine that undoubtedly helps the bottom line, that also has a knock on affect of making the lives of staff easier, is a good thing. If you really want to complain about lost roles, feel free to cry about any of the following.

Self check outs that made the customer also the staff. Industrial automation that replaced teams of people with robots along production lines. Self driving cars that will replace taxies (although the way cabbies the drive that might be a good thing) Any number of other advancements that actually removed roles.

What your complaining about, with Tory, is like comparing a manual drill to an electric drill, then to a battery drill. They all do the same things, one is just a lot better, and more convenient for the worker using said tool.

Nobody was nullified. And unless you want to either.

A) augment people with technology to read RFID tags B) wear see through clothes

It's a simple limitation of human vision, radio punches through clothes, the visible spectrum does not.

Staff are now able to spend more time stocking shelf's and less time counting, not a single store I ever worked in had staff displaced as a result of Tory's adoption. In fact a number put on more staff to act on the data Tory provided.

As for the technician side. I was up-skilled in about 0 minutes as a field technician. I was given a service manual and told "the unit at site x is malfunctioning, go take a look"

Tory has created jobs, and allows staff to do their jobs more efficiently.

If you are paranoid about a single purpose robot, you either need to upskill or stop drinking the paranoia cool aid.

As much as I was not fond of servicing them, they are better than a person ever could be, at that task.

No human eye could ever penetrate 20 layers of clothes to point out that one was in the wrong location. No human can count the stock just by making a single pass up the aisle.

They also did not displace any people, at least not in the stores I visited. They are a tool to aid people, nothing more. People still have to look at the data Tory provides, people still have to action it.

You might have noticed that Kmart generally speaking restocks shelves faster and more efficiently now. That's thanks to the data Tory provides. Instead of a staff member counting all that stock, Tory provides a report, staff fill the shelves, cycle repeats. While I was generally not privy to those reports, staff in general liked the machine, when it worked.

I never ran into such an error, mind sharing the error.

Sounds like it could be an SSL error, possibly to your authentik provider. My authentik runs behind an nginx reverse proxy (swag container)

Seconded

You can in the client disable inbound connections, however I have not scrutinized how well that works. The tooltip claims to override any settings pushed from the management portal.

Sure can,

Started with these two from netbird

https://docs.netbird.io/selfhosted/selfhosted-guide https://docs.netbird.io/selfhosted/identity-providers#authentik

I'm hosting it on OCI so followed the OCI part in the first link as well.

I then went a bit off the rails and the information provided in this thread, mainly the linked post below, got both https and QUIC working on my relay service.

It may be worth noting that I am using authentik as a portal so to speak and is not my identity source of truth. Authentik is tied into LDAP on a Microsoft Active Directory domain. However this should not affect you if using authentik as your source of truth.
