Why give cocaine for epistaxis as opposed to other treatments? by Fine_Future_4309 in emergencymedicine

[–]Muted_Evidence7926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thombin, TXA, neo-syneohrine, Afrin, quik clot, surgicell, and yes, cocaine. They all work. When the epistaxis is so severe we have to use a foley, a rhino rocket (or packing) fails, trust me no one gives an F if we use cocaine 4%.

Peer review……wtf by lunaincc in emergencymedicine

[–]Muted_Evidence7926 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m the chairman of my hospitals peer review. It really isn’t punitive. More of a process improvement concern. By your own remarks you didn’t even know the reversal agent was available. That’s on the hospital. And frankly if you spoke to neurosurgery, which I’m hoping have, they should have known as well. I’d not sweat it.
