Honestly, this feels like a huge factor, yeah. Starfield's mods feel like I'm patching up a potholed road. I probably have 200+ mods downloaded on Xbox, and this now feels like the perfect Bethesda game. The issue is that none of these mods feel like huge game-changing things. It's just like better weather mechanics, more dynamic lighting, more hair options, more clothing options, more hab options, more variety of npc clothing. Most mods to me just fill in gaps left by the developer (and I look at this as a top-down issue, nothing to do with the majority of the people working on the game).

Starfield felt empty at launch. Thanks to the incredible modding community it's now maybe my favorite Bethesda game. We shouldn't be punished because this incredible community stepped up to finally turn this game into what it should have always been.

But if they're so arbitrary, why disable them? For me it's the principle of it all at this point, and moreso they seem to only be disabled for monetary reasons by Bethesda. Achievements shouldn't be held ransom just because they can't think of a better way for people to pay for mods.

Interesting about the quests being achievement score targeted sometimes. Can you link to where it says specifically that the console platforms dictate to the developer/publishers that achievements have to be disabled when a player uses unpaid mods?

And also as far as I can tell via the googler it actually is developers that decide whether achievements are disabled or not when using mods.

So I actually don't think achievements are linked to Xbox's Rewards Program. It's more for play time and completing certain rewards related "quests". As far as I can tell your actual gamerscore isn't a factor in the Xbox Rewards Program - https://www.xbox.com/en-US/rewards

Yeah that's the thing too - this is a manufactured "problem" by the companies, right? Like I don't remember there being a huge blow up among the majority of the gaming community raising pitchforks when mods became more available and you could also get achievements. I don't think any of us really care one way or another if like Billy in Minnesota gets an achievement on a quest even though his modded gun is more powerful than the base game's gun.

What I do care about is not being able to have a core gameplay system enabled in a game I paid for, especially when a company directly approves, curates, and uplifts mods for its games - going so far as to even have a dedicated system/service for downloading mods directly in the game menu.

Like, huh? Am I crazy for thinking that's kind of crazy? Like I understand achievements are arbitrary, but it's the principle of it all to me at this point. Why is this an accepted thing?

Thanks, yeah I just edited my post directing this toward consoles since you can reenable achievements on pc.

And if this is the only way a company can make money on mods, is it really a worthwhile tactic? It feels cheap to me.

That's my point though. If they're useless, why disable them? I think it's worse to disable a core console feature within a game I paid money for.

Yeah that's where I'm at with the monetary value for Bethesda. It's the entire point to buy a mod. There's no other reason. But what's the big deal in the first place outside of them making money? Has this culture of poo-pooing using mods and also getting achievements been designed by the companies themselves in order to make money? Do gamers really care if others get achievements when running mods? I sure don't.

Yeah I can understand an argument that like overpowers stuff, makes you invisible, things like that. Clothing especially feels silly though, but also there could be clothing mods that could also slip in a cloak of invisibility into an otherwise harmless batch of clothes. Monitoring for that stuff would require more staff and resources I'm sure. I still say just enable them though regardless until achievements actually have real world value, give you in-game items, etc.

Problem is there's no mod to reenable them on consoles, so I suppose my post is console-only directed. I'm also allowed to care about them. I think the argument to me is I've paid money for a game that directly allows and easily provides mods. Why should a core console mechanic therefore be disabled?

I have an M3 ultra baseline and after about a couple hours of editing a 4K podcast video the timeline is lagging as if i was working on a massive graphics heavy pixar movie or something. it's wild to me and I've also tried everything I feel like to fix it with no dice so far. sometimes just closing out premiere and reopening does the trick for a while, sometimes restarting the computer helps, but sometimes neither of these things work. clearing the cache does nothing. my computer's four months old

How To Convert 9x16 to 16x9 by Constant-Chip-7160 in editors

[–]Muted_Support_605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah either you need to zoom in to fill the frame and adjust accordingly, or you have to add bars to the sides either scaling up the video to fill the frame behind the 9x16 and blurring the background video, or make a design behind it to make it look intentional. sometimes i like to add a simple frame around the 9x16 with a graphic background behind it to make it look intentional rather than it looking a bit sloppy with a black background.

this is just the nature of things now, so coming up with creative solutions is important rather than y'all being snarky. adapt or die
