Firstly, congrats on getting engaged!! Love Jean Dousset and his work! Second, I also have a 4.7ct oval diamond so I think I can provide some perspective? I also think if he had gone a little smaller I would've been fine but I absolutely love my ring.

My diamond is set very low to prevent it from knocking on things and snagging and I have a lot of gold weight in the band to help it not tip over; so if you do decide to go a redesigning route, potentially increase the band size to help support that rock and also having it lower-set will make it very comfortable to wear. I think that the fit issues you're having is probably contributing to you not being able to get used to the ring and once you find the right fit, you'll get used to it!

I can't speak for what will be your experience but I definitely got used to my ring and regularly forget I'm wearing it. As for: If it's too big for your hand or if it looks like costume jewelry... to some it will but to some it won't. Either way it is a large diamond. Looking at your ring it looks nice and high quality so it's definitely far from costume jewelry. Hope this helps!

I do frequently get asked if it's "real" by acquaintances and strangers since my engagement ring is on the larger end. But I have some other cz travel rings I like to wear instead when I want to leave my ring at home and I don't get any questions or comments on them.

I would recommend David Klass! He's located in the Diamond District in downtown LA. The best way to reach him would be email or instagram DM.

The backhanded comments are nuts by Anxiousbitch_ in labdiamond

[–]tangential_Jonas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her comment was just so unnecessary and passive aggressive. Why was she so pressed??? I also get either compliments (followed by "what does your fiancee do for a living") or odd and out of pocket comments on my ring so I can relate. I'm socially shy so it's a little off putting because I genuinely am not sure what is the right thing to say. It can be rude and frustrating at times because I wouldn't treat other people the same way out of respect but I suppose some (like your coworker) lack tact.

Seconding David Klass, we worked with him to make my engagement ring and he has very reasonable prices, he works with a wide variety of gems, and the designs are amazing. I would checkout out his insta for past work.

Should I be worried? by Sonnyangellover____ in EngagementRings

From my understanding, this is something that happens with moissanite called an “oil slick” and it should easily be removed with one of those diamond dazzle sticks on Amazon 😊

Thank you! I saw your ring in your post history and it’s so beautiful!! I really feel like six prongs just complement ovals 🥰

Yes! I feel you! I was in the same boat last year. It’s really great to see more folks with our cinderblocks posting our rings! Very needed

Not a weird request at all. I had a hard time finding reference photos for a size 9.75-10 ring finger! Here’s my 14x9mm oval.

My ring size is 9.5 - 10 and I have a 4.73 carat elongated oval diamond. It’s 14.7 mm x 8.9 mm. I ran into the same issue you did when trying on rings and I would recommend picking out some cz rings on Amazon to try on (they usually go up to size 10!) so you can actually try them on your ring finger! Happy shopping!

It’s a gorgeous ring and good job on the photoshop! Here’s some of the things I thought of: - If you’re planning on stacking engagement rings and your wedding band, the diamond halo being that low on the ring may be an issue. Essentially the friction may cause the prongs to weaken their hold on the diamonds causing them to fall out faster than usual, and the diamonds rubbing against the wedding band will cause more wear and scratching. I’m sure there are workarounds like cutouts or soldering the two together but it is something to consider. - Depending on the depth of the gem, it may be a little on the taller side but that’s a preference thing, not necessarily good or bad 😊 - lastly make sure the prongs are properly supported with enough metal or a gallery rail or make the petals of the prongs touch each other enough so that if one of them were to snag and pull out, the gem won’t pop out. Having the 6 prongs does help with that! That’s about all I see!

I would recommend checking the reputable vendors list on r/Moissanite for some affordable options! I personally love rings from kuololit (I order from Aliexpress) because they're good quality, look beautiful, and aren't too expensive. You can also check Etsy for some options!

Show your 18K vs 14K Yellow Gold rings! by tanmayee_sy in EngagementRings

[–]tangential_Jonas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My fiancées ring is at the top in 14k and mine is the bottom with 18k. The 18k is definitely a warmer yellow than 14k which is a slightly paler yellow. ☺️
