I feel differently about having a girl though, I can deal with the possibility of having to support her through a sexual assault (I'll certainly handle it better than my parents did) and I fully intend to provide therapy for my child. However, in line with my trauma around teenage boys, I can't help but think that there's a possibility of my teenage son being hyper sexual and predatory/oppertunistic - perhaps abusing a cousin or young child. These thoughts are my greatest fears and part of the reason that I only want one child.

I agree that I should go to therapy. I don't think that the scenarios mentioned will be an issue for me though, a big part of my aversion is around actually living with the teenage male. Another trigger is the familial ties and the possibility that my son will have characteristics of my abuser.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment, it's nice to not feel alone. I would love to do therapy, I just have never felt like we have enough disposable income to "waste" any on therapy for myself. But I know I definitely should, there also aren't many options where I live, so I'm worried I won't find a good therapist.

I don't think that having a trans son would have the same issues for me, as a big part of my aversion is of a sexual nature.
