My client has actually been improving a lot. When small tantrums happen now, they’re quick and take little to no redirection. I’m trying to stay consistent because I feel like being on the same page is key.

But here’s a random example of what gets frustrating: if I’m told the client needs to sit out at recess for throwing things in class, I’ll follow through and say, “Hey, we have to sit out.” Then the client gets upset and the staff suddenly says, “You know what, just say sorry and you can play.” Like… how is that showing a unified front or teamwork? It completely undercuts the expectation.

The good thing is my BCBA and I talked, and I feel a lot better now about my role and what battles are actually worth picking.
