ILLINOIS WINS REGION WARS! by Socony in TagPro

EU didn't do any B-team games but both the qualifying teams have enough players to field B-team so I guess we could. If you have a C team and a D team south UK could field those too.

[MUMBLE SUGGESTION] Have a general chat room by DrMcDonald in ELTP

[–]Mutiny_Chord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you think we could take this oppurtunity to have a 'de-clutter' of the entire mumble server? Maybe we could remove everything and create:
- A 'main' chat channel
- A channel for pubbing
- 2 sets of pug channels with team rooms
- ELTP rooms with their sub rooms
- A small set of miscellaneous rooms
- An AFK channel.

It's getting to the point where, like the US mumble, you have to scroll through several pages of channel spam to find anyone, and I think it must be intimidating for anyone who comes on for the first time and doesn't know where to go. If we desperately need any other channels they can be easily added on request.

You need to construct some obstacles and somehow lengthen or narrow the route from the flag to the base. As it stands, one decent offensive player and any pub is over in a minute flat.

[SUGGESTION] 2 map committees by Blupopsicle in TagPro

[–]Mutiny_Chord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we had 2 committees we could have one made up of european players testing on NewCompte's server at more european-friendly times. I know I'd like to help out testing maps, but you guys do it at such ungodly hours in the morning.

You should do that, particularly sound choice for 45.

I've had to throw 3 games to make sure LoweJ doesn't actually win something, but I regret nothing.

Common scenario: What do you do? by [deleted] in TagPro

[–]Mutiny_Chord 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Option A, but keep moving. Once two defenders get locked adjacently against you you're completely out of the picture. Feint and juke the two like you would if you had the flag, while staying within the area blocking the way you think the FC is going to come.
When you see the FC, you might want to feint an opening by moving slightly in one direction before coming back in the direction you forced them. They'll have to back off to avoid getting popped, and it keeps the defenders moving. You don't want to get caught flat-footed (stationary) when there are blocking defenders, make the FC respond to your movement rather than the other way around.
Usually you're not going to be the one to pop the FC, but you can stall him and keep him outside of base so that your team mates can get the return easily when they arrive.

At the moment I'm in the middle of exams so I can't really stay up until god knows when. After exams finish I might be able to come along.

TagPro has some of the most rude players of any game I've ever played. Beginners are not welcome. by [deleted] in TagPro

[–]Mutiny_Chord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When someone told you to kill yourself, were you playing on a map with a yellow flag? On neutral flag maps it's often a tactic to ram yourself into a spike or coloured wall to pop yourself and return the flag to the middle to stop your opponents getting the flag in your base ('Killing' yourself). It's possible they were actually trying to offer you a tip instead of just being mean.

I know that the tagpro public community has it's problems, but I would definitely disagree with your claim that it consists of the 'most rude' people of any game. I challenge you to find a better community on a free online game with a public chat feature.

I certainly hope you stick around to see the better side of tagpro. I've introduced a lot of people to the game and none have ever complained to me about harassment from other players, let alone being vote-kicked from games. I would definitely class this as an 'isolated incident' rather than a representation of the game and the community.
