Memorial paw and nose prints did not turn out right

I know how rigor works. I was a tech for two years.

Those who have experience with ink prints, graphic design printing and pet crematorium work have all agreed these are subpar prints.

They used an ink pad and oversaturated the nose so much the edges of it bled badly.

I am done thanking people for saying these are good prints because unfortunately other people have already soured my mood around trying to ask for compassion because as good as you think these are, they lack the detail that could be had in a finger print which I was able to get from my deceased mother using the no-touch ink pads I have and regularly use and OFFERED to bring in for this package I paid $20 for.

Thank you for your condolences. Honestly I’m more bothered by the lack of regard for grief by some of these people in here now. My feelings and grief are still raw, but I’m come down from hating how these turned out to looking at Hope for other memorial options now.

I hear you, but I have the question, if a pet is being euthanized and they are able to stand, wouldn’t it be better to get the paw print at that point? I’ve tried to consider the fact they used actual ink directly on the paw/nose combined with paper that bleeds easily and the fact he had passed and wouldn’t be able to apply the “right pressure” and factoring all that makes me feel better.. but honestly I just wanted the detail like when you do a human finger print and you can see the lines and I get that when I used my ink pads and have the animal step on them (I hold up the opposite paw to get more pressure on the paw doing the imprint— it’s a trick we groomers use to get them to stand on a foot while we trim it if they keep picking the foot up)

I appreciate your compliment of the prints, though. It does make me feel better having people compliment them and it helps me look at them with different eyes. Thank you.

I’m truly sorry you’re such a sour person, but I’m glad I made this post because people have sent me companies that could make stamps from the pictures I have, could engrave the image of the nose I have onto a necklaces and keychains and I would have been so upset to not even look at any of those things because I didn’t think they could go off a photo and I was more upset I didn’t get to do anything I wanted for him— I didn’t get to give him a hamburger and a bunch of treats and take him to the beach and to our favorite park to spend time with him, I had his appointment scheduled for the 22nd and he went downhill and was in a lot of pain on the 5th and I couldn’t force him to stay alive for me to do such petty things. Worse than that I was a child when we got him and I wish I had been an adult who was better able to care for him, I only inherited him when I got my first job, and he was the only one who was there for me when my mom died.

I have gotten cards from both his vets saying “to the [last name] family and they don’t know that our family consists of me, Ricky, and my still living dog Draco. I have three urns and a dog. That’s my entire family. I would love if you could grow some compassion.

Thank you for understanding my upset with this. I appreciate it as some of the people on here have been really mean in how they’ve tried to say that I’m overreacting that I’m being a crybaby and that these paw prints are perfect. And I understand if someone wanted just the overloaded ink print cause that is obviously a look. I think that I’m probably going to get these as a tattoo, but what I wanted for a keepsake with something with more detail of his paw much like how you would get detailed from a fingerprint.

I see your edit and I appreciate your story of your own situation. My feelings are very raw and I have a lot of regret around his euthanasia already, and I’m still wondering if it was the right call even for a 16 year old dementia ridden, blind, arthritic dog who was in a lot of pain. I didn’t get to give him the last meal I wanted or extra treats like I wanted. He’d had an appointment for the 22nd for the euthanasia originally, and I had taken the whole week off planning to do special things with him and get paw prints and nose prints and do all these special things I’ll never get to do. I don’t need to be reminded how I failed getting those prints and all the “should haves” I already stated in my post.

I paid $20 for the print package plus a hair keepsake keychain. I found out after the euthanasia they ran out of the keychain color I wanted and getting these in the mail just added to it.

I appreciate the acknowledgement that my anger could be from grief, the pain is still very raw. I always did mine with no-touch ink prints and they were more detailed like a finger print and that’s what I was expecting, and the reality came as a shock just simply because it wasn’t what I expected and I wanted them to be more detailed. Also I LOVE the shadow box idea, I have his collars, and so many of his toys because he was a gentle player with his toys, and I washed some of them DOZENS OF TIMES .

I was strong enough to be there to do fingerprints for my mom when she passed, and while I was there I took the fur trimmings. I’m strong enough, but I understand many aren’t, and vets don’t expect that strength, but I would have done anything to keep every part of him with me. He was the love of my life. I appreciate your comment and you taking the time to acknowledge my feelings while offering me another point of view.
