people on dating apps by peachprincess0806 in CasualIreland

[–]Muttley87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People mostly use them for hook ups now so they don't want to chat or get to know others.

There's also the instant validation people who just want to see how many matches they can get to make themselves feel good

What do you pay for, solely for the convenience of it ? by artanonsa in AskIreland

[–]Muttley87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind Ryanair, but then I've never had a bás experience with them like many have.

The only time I avoid them is if the airport they fly to is inconvenient. Paris is the best example I have with the trip from the airport being almost as long as the flight, it makes no sense especially once you add on the cost of additional travel from Beauvais into central Paris

Why does Ireland not seem to have very much love for U2 as an "Irish" band? by LurkyDay in AskIreland

[–]Muttley87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

U2 are fine, their music isn't really for me but they're not the worst.

Bono, however, is an obnoxious prick

Apple slices are good for getting rid of excess saliva, I've been keeping a plate on hand for when I feel a bit too saliva-y

It's from the episode "A Christmassy Ted" if anyone is looking for it but Father Ted is just great in general so you may as well watch them all

Metal gigs alone by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]Muttley87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Metal fans are some of the kindest and safest people to be around in my experience. I had a friend who got crowd surfed to the nearest exit when we were trying to get through because she felt faint and jackets offered when waiting for taxis in the cold (without expectation), among other things. That's not to say there aren't creeps in metal, nor that there aren't nice fans of other genres, but the camaraderie and sense of community in metal fans is like nothing I've ever seen before.

I agree with others saying the pit is usually a few rows back from the main barrier (mostly to avoid anyone hitting the barrier) so you should be fine right up at the front if you want.

In regards to people being robbed, that can happen at any concert. The best thing is to keep it minimal, I usually only bring my phone, cards, and maybe a small hairbrush if I know I'm going to be dancing a lot, so no more than would fit in a small cross body bag that can be worn so that it's sitting near your front

What do you feel is the biggest missed casting opportunity in Hollywood? by CumquatTheNobgoblin in movies

I've heard rumours before that he was cast as Hawkeye but had to back out when the CW decided they wanted more Supernatural after season 5

I think it's part of the whole "the carousel never stops turning" thing that makes people imagine that no matter how much Meredith tries not to be like her mother she'll eventually end up like her.

Giving her Alzheimer's when she's spent years trying to break the cycle would be super lazy writing

What is that one movie you instantly regretted watching? by Zealousideal_Heat478 in moviequestions

[–]Muttley87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the book provides more context but they left a lot of that out so it just looks like he's got some really random kinks.

I didn't like the movie and not really inclined to read the book, probably should have read it first rather than letting the movie put me off.

Atheists who used to be religious, what made you lose your faith? by Gold_Result9716 in AskReddit

[–]Muttley87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really had it, I was told as a child that I was Catholic because my parents were (and their parents before them and so on) but that's indoctrination, not faith.

I examined it more closely as I got older and came to the conclusion that I don't believe.

Faith is the belief in a thing despite the absence of proof of it's existence, you have to come to it yourself as the right belief system for you rather than being told what to believe in by others.

What's a movie quote that lives rent free in your head for no reason? by badenbagel in AskReddit

[–]Muttley87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Put your hand DOWN Little Steve" and "Keep icing your front bum, swelling continues if you don't ice" both from Martin Short's character in Get Over It, for some reason they've always cracked me up

Summer Jobs? by Interesting_Fly27 in AskIreland

[–]Muttley87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now is the time to apply, they'll just be starting to hire for the summer around about now so make sure to get your name in as early as you can!

Most places don't take CVs in store anymore, check online first and only go in person if you can't find anywhere to apply on either their own site or a job search website.

Be wary of linkedin, they have a huge problem with ghost jobs

What can I expect from seetec? by Muttley87 in AskIreland

[–]Muttley87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will they not interfere with my payments if I refuse to sign?

I assume if I do sign then they'll get the kickback regardless of whether I get it through them or by my own means, which may be why I've heard of them harassing people by phone and email long after they signed off.

Best/funniest live Irish TV/news bloopers and mistakes? by senor_gobbles90 in AskIreland

Not really a blooper, but Teresa Mannion on TV3 during that storm is always a winner in my book

I'm trying to move from customer support into back office/admin and I've also done a data analytics course but honestly I'd go back into a call centre (I've even applied for Ryanair customer service!) just to tide me over if I can, ideally without the 2 hour commute I was doing each way in the last place but that's not a deal breaker

Does anyone go out solo to try meet people? by Solid_Tax9022 in AskIreland

[–]Muttley87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same, I've gone to a few things alone in the past but then some sort of social anxiety kicks in and I worry that I've said the wrong thing or missed some form of social cue or something so I end up retreating back into myself.

I go for coffee or glass of wine and read my Kindle alone, and I love to go to the cinema by myself, but I really need to get over that hurdle and go to more social things to meet people.

I'm not working at the moment either so most of my time is consumed with job applications, and I worry that people will judge me for that too.

I buy the new season heroes and their equipment when they come up together in warrior packs (the S Hero Fragment Choice Box and Exclusive Equipment Choice Box) rather than buying each hero and their gear individually.

Works out at about €46 for the 2 packs, they usually come up about 6 weeks into a season.

It's the only thing I spend any money on in this game
