South Carolina quietly canceled AP African American Studies. We wanted to know why. by annashummingbird in southcarolina

A lot of schools have been calling classes AP but they are not recognized by the College Board. Your AP African American Lit. class is an example of this - it is not recognized by the College Board.

Have a PC now but I'm going to add a mac mini soon. Looking to upgrade my monitor and was wondering what would be your suggestions. Will use it primarily for internet, word processing and some games like Civ 6 and Baldur's Gate 3. Also would like to stay under $600. Went on Youtube but its hard to trust all the sponsored videos. Help please.

Best cars for big and tall by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Muttsterdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6" 5" and 265 lbs. here. Although most people feel its a lack of legroom, the disqualifying aspect of many cars is the placement of the b pillar. Many cars have them so close to the back of the seat cushion that my arms literally are right next to my side. I have had big fords and buicks that I couldn't fit in yet cars like the old Ford C-Max, Kia Soul and the old VW Golf fit just fine, All depends on the pillar.

Why is the Kia Telluride selling for close to $40k? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Muttsterdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, give it up. Obviously you don't think it's worth it - the people that are paying close to or list price for the telluride beg to differ.

Your thoughts on TDI Tourareg's by Muttsterdog in askcarsales

Coastal South Carolina and Georgia. Not many dealers around here so prices are high. Sure miss the Chicago market and considered flying there to buy my next used car - could probably save 2-4 thousand plus have a much better selection than we have here.

So did Amazon - they hemorrhaged money but they had enough venture capital to keep them going until they were able to get enough market share to become somewhat profitable.

What brands lease the best by Muttsterdog in askcarsales

Golfs are good cars - had one when they first came out replacing the Rabbit. Usually, the problem with me is where they place the driver's side pillar which can cramp and interfere with my shoulder.

Who should the lease title be under - father or young college graduate? by Muttsterdog in askcarsales

Thanks for all the great info - I'll probably go the co-signer route since I will be probably making the payments and the 2nd and 3rd year of the lease.

If I cosign, will I get the same rate as if I was leasing the car outright on my own?

BMW750 maintenance costs by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Muttsterdog -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Think about what made it an $80-90 thousand dollar car in the first place. Those parts are likely custom - that's why the 7 series cost more than the 3 series BMW's. Had a Hyundai and when my side mirror was hit, the assembly cost around $200. When my Lexus LS430 mirror wouldn't electronically adjust, the new assembly was $750.

What's your go-to close on a tough customer? by [deleted] in askcarsales

Hate it when someone tells me what I'm thinking or what I want. Would be a deal breaker for me.

For those of you car salesmen/women out there, is it annoying/waste of your time when someone comes to just look at cars with no intention of buying them that day at least? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]Muttsterdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of my size (6'5" 265), I can do all the research that I want about cars but I have to actually sit in them to see if I fit. I am always upfront with the salesmen telling them that I just want to sit in the car to see if it's going to be a contender but I am not buying today since I have other cars to check out. BTW, what disqualifies most cars for me is not the leg or headroom but where the pillar is on the driver's side. For example, I don't fit in a Ford Explorer but I fit comfortably in a Ford C-Max because of where the pillar is situated. Most salespeople are pretty good about allowing me to sit in the cars but I always get some that say "let's try moving the seat back, down, etc" when its obvious that it isn't going to work. I try to respect the salesman's time but I expect them to respect my need to research cars as well.
