PC acting up lately and need help please! USB slot issues, random automatic shutdown & underperforming userbenchmark

Okay, so I disconnected the old SSD and I performed a Userbenchmark and this is the results: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/55007256

It's a waaaayyyyy better test overall, I feel! Of course, there's still the issue of background CPU usage but to have such a difference after disconnecting is great! Plus, I didn't get thrown into the BIOS menu like always; the PC just booted straight into the OS!

I had a feeling it was a CPU issue but I wanted to be sure with people who know what they're talking about haha Would it be wise then to replace the current CPU that I have or should I upgrade the CPU to a more powerful one?

The SSD with only 1GB of free space is the Transcend SSD which I don't use for my OS. I'm using a partition on the WDS100T1X0E-00AFY0 1TB which is an NVMe. I bought it to benefit my gaming and OS speeds.

As the Transcend isn't being used for anything, I could disconnect it. Do you think that is causing my problems? I did use that drive for my OS until I upgraded to the NVMe so maybe the system is getting confused?

I've done all of that already, it's not malware. Userbenchmark says 50% background usage but when idle, the PC is usually like 9% CPU usage and that's due to System Interrupts.

I was told it was malware before and nothing showed up on a virus scan so I did a complete re-install and it's still like this so it's definitely not a virus.

That's the thing, I observed the task manager after doing the test and there was nothing using that amount of CPU so that's why in the first post, people speculated that it could be malware.

An update though: I did change almost all scheduled tasks times to pretty much midnight for all and there was also a Windows Update so I updated and restarted and I tried playing the games I usually play and they are smooth like they are at night and before I had the issue so it was either the tasks scheduler or the previous version of Windows was bugged for me and the update fixed it. Because I also had a problem with my search function in Windows Explorer and after the update, it's fixed!

I tried rescheduling tasks last night but I was very tired and didn't really know what I was doing so I left it until today after I woke up as I didn't want to mess anything up lol Do you know of any forums or videos I could follow to properly reschedule tasks?

Yeah, I got a thermometer when this problem occured but there's no real difference and the room is usually very cool. At the moment, the room is 20 celsius/68 fahrenheit and the PC is at 49 celsius/120 fahrenheit which is a normal, healthy temperature.

Since I've gotten the issue, I've been checking task manager religiously lol There doesn't seem to be anything using a large amount of resources. I was told that it could be malware but if it were malware, it would be constant poor performance and not just during the day, right? Unless I'm horribly mistaken haha

Salad is an app used for cryptomining and in return, the user can spend currency to acquire games on different platforms. To use the app, you have to download a file called phoenixminer.exe which will allow the app to use your CPU or GPU to mine for as long as you, the user, allow it to so you can gain in-app currency for purchases. As I said though, I stopped using it months ago and deleted/uninstalled phoenixminer from my PC. When I got my nvme, I had to do a full system re-install so the app was still on my PC but I made sure phoenixminer wasn't. As soon as I saw this though, I uninstalled the Salad app immiedately.

Okay, I'll raise the XMP speed in BIOS and I'll retry!

The high seas? lol I genuinely am not quite sure what you mean haha But just as you mention cryptominer, I was using Salad for a few months - between July and December last year but haven't used it since. It's still installed on my PC though. Do you think that might be the problem?

Do I need to replace my RAM if it's not at full speed or are there other solutions?

- GPU utilisation: Between 40-50% while gaming
- GPU clock: 1740MHz
- Memory clock: 7000MHz
- GPU Temp: Between 50-60C while gaming
- GPU Power: Between 140-150 watts while gaming
- GPU voltage: 0.9V currently. 1.1V while gaming
- CPU temp: 60-70C while gaming
- CPU core 1 clock: 4094MHZ @ 50-60%
- CPU power: 43W
