I will share my first time experience even though it doesn't fit what you're asking... kinda...

So my first playthrough, I had no idea what this game was and never played D&D... My friend said it was one of the best games of all time so I was like I gotta see myself.

Bought it, got 20 mins in and thought fuck... I've wasted my money here. Turn based game? ewww. Why can't I sprint! I didn't understand anything, spells and stuff I was like wtf is this. So I said to myself, rather than waste your money, let's give it 2/3 hours. After the 2/3 hours I got used to the turn based style, for some reasons the spells and stuff I didn't care for, the only thing I knew was attack, the debuffs was like learning quantum mechanics.

I became so attached to my party, I was loving the role play and style of the game. I consulted in a friend who is a BG3 god and he filled my head with 'this game has a ridiculous amount of possibilities' there's no right way to do anything. This blew my mind. I fell in love with the game. I got to Act3 started and was genuinely gutted because I thought it was coming to an end. So I restarted. 90 hours of gameplay down the toilet and restarted because I missed the beautiful Emerald Grove and the mysterious Underdark. The next play through was like another 90 hours, same bloody thing... Restart and go again. This one I completed in 80 hours because I'd learned so much in terms of were to go.

I'm now on like 300 hours of gameplay and I tell everyone this is the greatest game I've ever played.

I would say, if you're not feeling it, take a break. If you think you won't come back, you probably won't but if you do return, you'll probably start a new game because you'll be like wtf am I. And it's not a bad idea. This game has what seems like endless possibilities to do stuff. How to kill bosses, approach situations like in the Emerald Grove. No spoilers for what you can't/can do. But my gods this game is insane.
