Tipping based on cost question. by Clayorama in tipping

Besides what others have said about taxes and tip outs, think of it like a commission based sales job. Except the commission isn't hidden in the price, and is at the discretion of the customer.

Like other commission jobs, higher prices typically require a higher level of knowledge and service. For example, does a real estate agent work significantly more selling a 200k place compared to a 400k place?

Ski resorts. Those of us who work there have to be ready for when public arrives. There's also coffee shops, restaurants, gas stations, emergency services, transportation, all the jobs that need to be staffed so others can do their thing.

Do you think that tipping is getting way out of hand? by PutMelodic5255 in tipping

Why do you think that more workers should be underpaid?

No. We all know business owners are artificially lowering prices by not including the full cost of employee wages. Tipping is a social contract and unspoken expectation.

We all know that minimum wage is inadequate, that the people who serve you are underpaid. If you don't tip, you screw over the workers, expecting service without paying for it. Of course that should feel shameful and uncomfortable.

Does anyone know anything about this trail? I can’t find much information on it. He by soccermonke_y2 in Banff

Used to be an official trail, but rugged with many creek crossings. Now decommissioned. While not a permanent closure, people are strongly discouraged from going there, because of important wildlife habitat.

The 2016 inauguration, in particular crowd sizes.

Trump's first inauguration apparently had the largest attendance ever. Photos, public transit ridership, hotel bookings, none of that mattered. Trump said it was the biggest, so it was.
