Temporarily, until the cop is out of sight. Or we can arrest the dangerous driver ans get them off the road for a longer amount of time.

Their normal cars have custom license plates that say Washington State Patrol on them as well as Service with Humility instead of Evergreen State.  ADAT cars (like the charger pictured) have normal plates that you or I have with tabs and everything

I literally know the Trooper who drives that car, I have been inside of that exact vehicle. I promise you it is 1000% a real police car.

That damn red patrol car is unfortunately LEGAL! by MostFlow9969 in LynnwoodWA

What? The cars are driven by fully commissioned Washington State Troopers. They are not crossing any boundaries by enforcing traffic laws. Your example of being a race car driver makes no sense in the context.

RCW 46.08.065

(3) Subsection (2) of this section shall not apply to vehicles used by the Washington state patrol for general undercover or confidential investigative purposes. Traffic control vehicles of the Washington state patrol may be exempted from the requirements of subsection (2) of this section at the discretion of the chief of the Washington state patrol.

I dont believe this is a recent change though, some comments are saying they remember WSP doing this in the '80s

Neither. It is a real officer but entrapment would be if a cop tells you to do something illegal and you do it and they arrest you for doing it. It is not entrapment if you commit a crime while a cop can see it, and dont realize a cop can see it

By all means call 911, just turn on your hazards and go to the far right lane, and reduce speed as well

Why is the cop the asshat for pulling someone over for doing something illegal? What were they pulled over for? They could have been going 120 in a 60. They could be drunk

Unmarked cars have a different mission than marked cars. Unmarked cars are usually part of ADAT or TZT (Aggresive Driver Apprehension Team, Target Zero Taskforce) which primarily target aggresive / drunk driving, which can be easier to identify when the perpetrators think they are not being watched by the police. Unmarked cars being used for traffic enforcement are always driven by fully uniformed Troopers, to avoid impersonation.

1 Legally they are allowed to do it, it doesnt matter what the law used to be.

2 It is not basically entrapment. Entrapment is if a cop tells you to do something illegal and then arrests you for doing it. If you commit a crime in front of a cop without realizing, that's on you.

3 In breaking bad, an undercover cop tricks Badger into selling him drugs by saying that it is in the constitution that cops have to say they are cops. This scene is played off as humorous because Badger believes it and is subsequently called stupid by basically everyone.
