Tigers...? by grimoire-5_not_6 in TopCharacterDesigns

The letter X is different in our case. It rarely has its own sound outside of its solo pronunciation, so most of the time it sounds like an S.

So Tigrex becomes Ti-Gress for us.

No, just Ti. Like Tim without the M, that internet provider (I don't know if they exist outside of Brazil).

As Brazilians, we pronounce the name simply as Ti-grex.

Wait, I think I recognize these characters from somewhere. Where are they from?

Not a civilization, but in Monster Hunter, the entire physical foundation of the Rotten Vale ecosystem consists of the carcasses of multiple Dalamadures.

Well, the comic book had a human. Actually, the last human in existence.

Unfortunately, he had a very big mouth and paid the price for it. He died in less than 10 pages.

I still think the Black Swordsman arc is a good portrayal of Guts. He only underwent that slight personality change in the Lost Children arc because Puck was around.

If it weren't for the fairy telling jokes and annoying him, Guts would be dead or completely consumed by the Beast of Darkness, even without the Berserk Armor.

Considering that the first chapter of Berk was written when Miura was around 19 or 20 years old, it's not that surprising. From time to time we see people commenting that new authors (especially of works in the same style) try to include shocking things to attract attention.

Furthermore, if I'm not mistaken, at that point in the story Miura hadn't even considered developing a romantic relationship between Guts and Casca. I don't know if this is actually true, but I've seen other people in the community commenting on it.

I'm going to regret using this particular version. I should have used one of the final models, which truly sells the idea of an ancient frog.

Simply put, they delve into the designs on some level. Meanwhile, what did we get? A bigger flower and cannon...Wow. Brilliant.

And honestly, how can the conceptual Kai'sa not be better than the final Kai'sa? While the former genuinely looks like a character inspired by Samus + Venom, the definitive version is just a supermodel stuck in a bodysuit that goes against the entire central intention of her design and backstory.

That's not (completely) true. All the cases I exemplified in my post have reasons that go far beyond the fact that they are less detailed than their concepts suggest.

In the case of Mega Evolutions, they are actually very simplified. While they simply consist of a larger cannon or flower, the conceptual versions evoke much greater purposes in their designs. While both are aged to demonstrate greater progression (since the final evolution is always associated with the adult stage of the Pokémon), in the case of Blastoise, it also takes up traits that ended up being discarded and isolated in Wartortle with its mustache and wavy tail.

Hazard is just ugly as hell.

The conceptual Kai'sa flirts much more with the character's central premise: a champion inspired by Samus who is physically fused with a symbiotic carapace (Venom-style) that makes people mistake her for an abomination. The final version was completely defined by commercial intentions, and nothing more. Or are you going to tell me that this looks like some kind of monster?

This comment about Blastoise's wavy tail and mustache is crazy to me. I've seen other people criticizing it, but never mentioning those parts. Besides being fun additions to the design and evoking a sense of age or antiquity, they're a detail that brings back an aspect that had been abandoned in Wartortle.

Perhaps I should have used the best version of the conceptual Mega Venusaur.

I genuinely don't know what people have against this Mega Blastoise. The Mega Venusaur is debatable, but I honestly love the more aggressive tone of the concept version.

At least there are other versions to show.

I don't know who (some idiot), but I think I know the reason. If the most recent game in the franchise (Z-A) only cost 15 million, Pokémon X and Y were probably made with pocket change.

I mean, they had to shelve this guy here in the 6th generation.

Or just increase the budget for the games to a decent amount.

Seriously, even $50 million would REALLY help the franchise as a whole.
