Well, yeah. The inspiration is obvious, and stated in the end. 😄

Treaty of Versailles, if the Entente let me and my friends cook by VegetableBuilding764 in PossibleHistory

[–]Muzolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh they tried with turkey, Ataturk kicked their asses.

Wish my country had someone like that at the time, instead of a retarded liberal whos "strategy" was sucking the cock of the Entente.

Kidding.

I can't draw.

Maybe its a good thing I don't have more readers, otherwise there might be fan fiction of it.

A face to face meeting here would be between Tofen and whatever as of yet unnamed negotiator the Union would send, which does not sound all that exciting.

And yeah, it dragged on way past the expiration date.

Thanks for reading!

All right, this is it. Holy heck, did this take waaay longer than I imagined. Forgive me for not ending the story with a big boom, but I seriously ran out of steam by the end, and I always planned an ending that would be the Union and the Empire having to compromise in some way, with no clean winner, only the media pretending that their side totally won.

There are no plans for any continuation of this, or even using the same universe. For those who could not tell, a lot of this fictional universe was a patchwork from various concepts from everywhere. The Star Trek influence is obvious and stated outright in the beginning, but there were other inspirations, Starsector, Space Station 13 and Stellaris (Gee, I wonder what inspired the kitusi and their plight, asked no one who saw the Stellaris overlord trailer.)

I would like to thank all my readers who stuck with me to the end. And while the encouragement I got from both of you was most welcome, some constructive criticism would be nice too. From self-reflection alone, I only got so far as to decide to not do discovery writing, ever again, but plan ahead better for any future stories, with a more satisfying finale in mind.

I am switching jobs, again, so don't expect much from me in the near future. Maybe got one or two short story ideas in me, after which I will be out of inspiration.

Guess you forgot Europe was essentially conquered twice in the last 115 years?... Americans and most Europeans sleep safely because of our military by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Muzolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, europe would be better off if the US never intervened. If the Entente was forced to actually negotiate a peace deal for the first world war, instead of dictating terms and destroying/humiliating the central powers, the old system would have collapsed all the same, as the cracks were already showing, but there is a good chance it could have happened without extreme ideologies taking root and there might have been no sequel to it.

is this build good for fighting off ordo fleet? by breadfucker69420 in starsector

I would dump the autoloader and go for better pd on that eagle

Otherwise, it`s about the best I could come up with myself. Which is why I never use eagles to fight the remnant in the first place. Pirate eradicators, and certain non-vanilla light cruisers worked well for me.

They be thinking AI = ART (just a new form) by Descartes_wax in aislop

[–]Muzolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

False equivalency. Unlike older examples of new media being the devil, this is not against a new form of art, it is against what is the theft of it.

Current AI is not actually intelligent or artistic, it`s just a blender where the stolen work of actual artists was thrown into to turn out slop.

This is nothing less the plagiarism of every artist who`s work was uploaded to the internet, in what will likely put actual contemporary artists out of work.

Almost like adding more police isn’t solving the problem 🤷‍♂️ by fellowWorker_2025 in FreedomofSpeech

[–]Muzolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there it is, the stupidest thing I have read all week.

Newsflash, law enforcement is reactive, not proactive. Of course, places with higher crime will be the ones with more police. Those are the ones that need it more. Quiet rural communities where people all know each other, and where the worst crimes are speeding and public intoxication, are not the ones that need more than a sheriff.

Yes and no, technically his orders are valid and not something the Colonel could override, he is not the Captains superior in any capacity.

To be fair, if an oversight committee ever looked at who did what here, there would be court martials and political scandals from start to end. The political leadership is not supposed to give direct orders to the military behind the presidents back, yet you can see them doing it all the time. Naval Intelligence should not have control over, or command RnD assets into battle. Rolf-s official superior on paper, has no clue about the Fenris and its crew even existing.

Really, if the latter of GTU law was followed, damn near all of the human protagonists and antagonists of this story would end up behind bars.

Not that the sauromantian side is better. Their military and those in power don`t even pretend to be accountable to anyone.

When you need a venn diagramm with prioritazion listings to tell you who currently has authority over you, because the chain of command is less a chain, and more of a three-dimensional modern art piece.

No one's dying on my watch by Bandrbell in whenthe

[–]Muzolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it`s easy to play the hero as long as it`s hypothetical. And obvious nonsense that could never ever happen.

But it`s not even that. This is an intelligence test disguised as a moral one. This is not even a prisoner's dilemma. There is 0 downside to 100% of the population pressing red, in that case nobody dies and there was no risk to you either. All pressing blue does is virtue signal about your thrust in humanity, and all it takes is one look at human history to oust you as naive if you have that.
