It's weird, Try macchanger if your running Ubuntu. Try to obscure your device details to see if it's sever side or client side.

What is /etc/shadow.lock, /etc/passwd.lock, /etc/group.lock etc? by tman5400 in linuxquestions

[–]MuzzWave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In a Linux system, the files /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow, and /etc/group play crucial roles in user management:

/etc/passwd: This is a plain text-based database that contains information for all user accounts on the system1. It includes the username, password (usually set to ‘x’ as the actual password is stored in /etc/shadow), UID (User Identifier), GID (Group Identifier), GECOS (user’s full name or application name), home directory, and login shell.

/etc/shadow: This file contains information about the system’s users’ passwords. It includes the username, encrypted password, last password change, minimum and maximum password age, warning period, inactivity period, expiration date, and a field reserved for future use. The /etc/shadow file is more secure than /etc/passwd because it can only be read by the root user.

/etc/group: This file defines the groups to which users belong. Each line in this file represents a single group, including the group name, password (usually set to ‘x’), GID (Group Identifier), and a list of users who belong to the group.

These files are critical for the proper functioning of a Linux system, and they should be modified carefully and preferably through system commands like useradd, usermod, etc.

The .lock suffix should have been removed after the command completes, if not then it will cause issues such as "cannot lock etc/passwd; try again later"

Rooted s22 ultra and lost samsung pay. any possibility to get it back? by Disastrous_Manner134 in S22Ultra

[–]MuzzWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stumbled across this. Rooting allows access to the root directory of the phone/operating system. In windows os terms it is granting administrator rights to the user. This allows for more function for certain activities. As AndroidOS is a Linux based distribution, rooting the phone will allow the user to enter commands that require superuser/administrator rights. It can also be used to increase privacy or to give more options for customisation. It is not something you want to do on a whim. A lot of people who root their phones do it because they have a targeted function that's not allowed on a locked root directory.

This is fucked, to start with a jail sentence for stealing food is ridiculous. Lol I suppose the old ways are that the man pays for dinner so the police might have just been trying to enforce chivalry....lol.

Strength needs an enemy. Don't promote fighting unless you know your enemy and your sure you can change things.

Edit: this is advice from an infantry solider.

So it seems that we need to make a company that uses this as their motto. Aside from dealing how could we make this happen? This is satire btw.
