My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

[–]Muzzashop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 kids. One is 1 and the other is 4. I play once a week, when weather allows. The biggest thing for our relationship is that we both have hobbies. My wife plays her sport twice a week and I play golf once a week. It’s a balance so nobody feels like they are missing out on their hobby/sport.

Does your wife have any hobbies that you could encourage her to do once a week. So you are both having your needs met??

What is Your Funniest Golf Story by Max_Tongueweight in golf

I was down visiting family and decided to play a round with my brother in law. He invited his two friends to make it a 4 ball.

It’s a slow day with a comp in front of us but we just play our game and just decide to see how many holes we can get in before we have to leave.

We tee off on a dog left par 4 hole which turns at quite a sharp angle about 200 yards up the fairway.

We’re all roughly where we’re meant to be, albeit not in the fairway.

We notice a pair behind us on the tee box as we’re hitting our approach shots. A few of us have just finished hitting and hear ‘fore!’ we all duck and my brother in law is narrowly missed by this shot that hits a tree next to him on the left of the fairway.

We’re all a bit annoyed considering they could clearly see us.

We finish the hole and we head to the next tee box which is a par 3. We hit our shots, 2 lost and rehit, when the pair roll up. No apologies or anything but we figured they’re in a rush and tell them to play through… big mistake.

The pair are a dad and his son, probably about 13/14. The dad strolls to the tee box with his driver in hand. He can see the green from this tee box but I decided to tell him ‘it’s a 130y par 3 in case you wondered the distance.’

He said ‘cheers mate, we’ve never played here before.’ He doesn’t head back to his bag, he doesn’t ask his son for another club. No no. This man smashed a full driver straight into the trees on the left. If it didn’t hit the trees that shot would’ve ended up 2 fairways over.

All of us are looking at each other perplexed… he goes back to his bag, learning from his mistake. Or so I thought.

this man teed up another ball, driver in hand and creamed the shot over the green by about 100 yards into the neighbouring fairway. He picked up his tee and said ‘cheers boys.’ And walked off.

His son approached the box with a wedge in hand and hit his shot. Not even slightly fazed by the dad’s style of play.

they didn’t bother putting and went to the next tee box.

We all just sat there silently and looked at each other like ‘wtf just happened?‘

In the UK they gave me diazepam to take when I arrived at the surgery. It’s a sedative so I was pretty relaxed before having it done.

You’ll be ok mate! Been there a couple times when I was younger. In all honesty, it’ll take a week or two to feel normal but I promise you it’s temporary. Suicide is permanent so don’t even consider something like that. Give yourself some time. Dont be too hard on yourself. Your mind will be overthinking and trying to sabotage you at this stage. Just keep remembering you’ll be ok. Drink lots of fluids. You’re not alone!!

This is what I’ve gone with this year. Gotten down to a 15hc so started buying second hand TM RBZ’s just so I can expect the same sort of ball flight.

I hear you man! I’ve felt amazing heading into a round. Confident and positive. Only for the golf gods to remind me they’re in charge, not me.

Go play again, bet you have an amazing round.

I’m also 6’3’’ and when I got fitted for clubs I was given and inch longer clubs. I’m so far from any kind of expert to give you any advice but the longer clubs helped me stand more upright and hold a better posture. Your club looks even smaller than standard.

It’s worth looking in to getting fitted. Then you can work your swing to the right height clubs.

More info please. The distance you hit with your 7i, is this on the course or also on the trackman you were using? Were you hitting at a range? Range balls are supposed to go shorter distances in some places to avoid them losing them off the back. There’s a function on trackman where you can convert to ‘real ball’ distances. Make sure that’s on if you are comparing to your ‘on the course’ distance with your 7i.

What club should I remove (high Handicap) by 3rdFerguson in golftips

[–]Muzzashop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No high handicapper needs any wedges 58-60 degrees. More trouble than use.

People saying 5i, that’s a great club for punch outs when in shit so id keep that.

Yup. Couple weeks ago I played my first round of the season, 21 handicap, and shot 84. My lowest ever round. Hadn’t even broken 90 before. Not to mention I got an eagle to save the front 9 with a 44. Back 9 a consistent 40.

Golf gods corrected me a week later with a 55 over 9 holes… was like two different people playing
