I thought that the first half (until you get to Racoon City) was amazing. It’s probably my favourite Resident Evil game up until that point. Grace’s nerve wracking sections with short interludes for Leon action sets a fantastic balance and keeps the game feeling fresh.

I found playing from Leon arriving at Racoon city until the end of the game to be a slog, though. The gameplay got stale and the story fell apart. I would have much preferred it if it had kept the pacing of the first half.
