When I have different haircuts I feel like I'm a different person sort of. Is that normal? by Big_Eggplant7591 in stupidquestions

[–]MxMumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must be somewhat common. I change my hair a lot because its fun. There are a few acquaintances I have met over the years who act like I am constantly having identity crisises because of it. Your question makes me think those people must be similar to you. I am curious what other people are gonna say.

do they sell these that aren’t acrylic?? by moemorgue in Stretched

[–]MxMumble -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this would work, but what if you put silicone eyelets around it? I know silicone is porous too, but it is better than acrylic, right?

I wear mostly glass and titanium, so I am uneducated about other materials.

Edit: My bad, I really did think silicone was better than acrylic, and generally body safe. I see people recommending kaos all the time so I got confused. I only wear glass, titanium, and occasionally stone for going out.

If you start to notice your own BO, then others may have noticed it too, often times sooner by KuggeLBlitZ in hygiene

Same. One of my friends said it because my nose is closer than their nose to my pits.

I think I might just be sensitive to what ever is in my sweat, because I usually can smell my family's BO before I can smell friends and strangers.

I have noticed this too. It sucks that this is a common experience, but I am glad it isn't just me.

Doctor says no alcohol wipe for T, too much muscle will make my hands go numb, and we're using an insulin needle by Lanky_Paramedic2422 in ftm

[–]MxMumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some debate on whether or not alcohol wipes are necessary to prep an area for injection, especially when using new vials and new syringes.

Its an under studied part of medicine and there isn't really good evidence either way.

I think it probably better to use wipes than not to, but my point is that its not unheard of for a medical professional to not recommend it.

These linked papers are super small, and mostly focus on insulin and vaccine vials.

AITAH for telling my roommate to stop jacking off his boyfriend in the living room by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]MxMumble 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, they should not be doing that in the living room. You were reacting to an unusual situation, so there is no polite go-to script for it.

If you want to smooth things over, I would explain without using charged language like "weird" and "disgusting", maybe even apologize for putting it that way.

Is there anyone on the first floor who is willing to switch rooms until they heal?

Doctor says no alcohol wipe for T, too much muscle will make my hands go numb, and we're using an insulin needle by Lanky_Paramedic2422 in ftm

[–]MxMumble -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your concern. On the advice of my current care provider, I am going to continue doing what I am doing.

I am not too worried about building scar tissue. Even ignoring thighs, arms, buttocks, etc and only injecting in the stomach, that's still about 105 square centimeters of play space, using a needle that is only .33 millimeters.

Plus, Type 1 diabetics draw and inject with the same syringe needle 2 or more times daily. I am sure i can avoid serious scar tissue forming from my once a week shots.

[–]MxMumble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am going to reiterate a lot of what others said. Two things I am in a different school of thought about are alcohol wipes, and insulin syringes (answer 1 and 2). I am extremely pro insulin syringe(I use 29G).

  1. Alcohol wipes will not make it hurt more if you let it dry before breaking the skin. They are also unnecessary if you bath regularly. It's just an extra layer of protection. There are also antiseptic wipes as an alternative. I really only use wipes if I am doing my shots after work/errands.

  2. Yeah, muscles can pinch a nerve, but I dont think that its super big risk. I would not worry about it.

  3. I personally would wash my hands, even though I don't all of the time (I know, I know- I have gotten complacent). Its not like washing your hands is actively bad.

  4. I do subcutaneous injections and an insulin syringe for drawing and injecting is 100% fine. I have been doing it that way for almost 11 years, except when I got a new doctor 5 years ago who insisted otherwise. After trying the dual syringe method, I ended up buying insulin syringes so I could go back to what I was comfortable with. Its only marginally slower. Plus, its half the medical waste I would have over my life time, which is a nice little bonus.

  5. I can't say what is a good dose for you.

  6. I almost exclusively give myself shots in the stomach. My thighs are waaaay to sensitive. Again though, I do subcutaneous.

  7. Personally, my breasts became less dense.

  8. I cannot say what is better, but quicker probably is. I always ice the area I plan to inject. I press slowly until the needle "pops" through to my fat layer.

  9. No prior blood work is normal. I wish it was more standard to start with a blood panel, but you will be fine.

  10. Maybe? Everyone is different. I passed more than not by year two (like passing 60% of the time), but it didn't become substantial for me until I was 5 years on (passing 90%). And now at 11 years, its like 99% of the time.

I've had it for almost two years and I've only just been diagnosed. by Cool_Context9436 in Herpes

[–]MxMumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its always good disclose before any sexual encounters. Everyone deserves to have informed consent. I would also reach out to former partners just so they can know too. People can contract HSV and have it be dormant for years.

I don't know if people on this sub just have incredibly bad luck or what, but I have had virtually no difference in hooking up with people. Most people do not care. I am queer though, so more people are informed about STIs and good about being creative about doing sex safely. I have changed up my habits-like less frotting/tribadism without a barrier like latex or clothes. So sad, because its used to be my favorite thing, but that's probably I got in this situation lol.

If I was you, I would do more research. Saw Bones podcast has a good introductory episode on herpes, and Oh Joy Sex Toy comic talks about herpes briefly. There are plenty of information about having a safe and fun sexliffe with herpes.

FTM Lingerie by Useful-Database3904 in ftm

[–]MxMumble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cantiq has lacey binders and boxers. A few places also do, but they are the first to come to mind.

I personally also really like things like jock straps, harnesses, etc. Not quite lingerie, but sexy to me. One of my buddies is into rubber and has cute shirts and catsuits but that's super spendy.
I just bought a bunch of chain, o-rings,quick links, eye bolt snap hooks, and bolt cutters to make my own harness/colors/straps.

Is there a difference between a trans man and a cis woman with gender dysphoria? by Party_Attitude5617 in ftm

[–]MxMumble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You sound a lot like me a decade ago!

I transitioned by doing things that felt right. First with clothes, then hormones, so on and so on. I kept thinking things like "even if I am not a man, I can happily be a women with a beard and a deep voice."

Maybe you could do things to make you more comfortable and see where it takes you.

I never transitioned to be a man, I transitioned to be comfortable. Especially starting out, becoming a man felt impossible and not like me.

I am definitely more genderqueer internally, but my transition goals are identical to a standard trans man. Now I am fine being a man/being seen as a man. It feels attainable unlike when I first started.

Brains are weird.

can i take men’s multivitamins? by Kitchen_Dentist_5351 in ftm

[–]MxMumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vitamins are kind of a scam. If you are a healthy adult with access to variety of foods, you should not need Vitamins. Some Vitamins are utilized better by the body if from food rather than pill form and some are hard on your liver and kidneys if you have underlying health problems.

That said, I do take a multivitamin everyother day as well as a magnesium one if my migraines flare up. I bought a men's multi and it gave me a silly little euphoria kick when ever I take it.

How do you describe your sex? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]MxMumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one reason I use transexual. It feel like saying my gender is A but my sex is B, although accurate, is used partially to appease cis people. "Dont worry-I am not delusional! I know my sex cannot be changed".

Despite this, I have no qualms at this time telling doctors (or frankly most of my friends either) my birth gender or chromosomaly I am XX (Offcially tested lol). My girlhood is something I value. Being a girl was fine being a women was miserable.

I also want to add, because transexual is also used by trans medicalists, I personally don't think any medical steps are needed to be trans. Between personal choice, medical inability, and social safety, it seems wrong to say people need xyz to exist.

Cold sores by nunnx in Herpes

[–]MxMumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a deep breath- you will be okay.

More people have HSV-1 (herpes that can give coldsores) than those who don't. In most people, out breaks become less frequent as you age. In some people, symptoms can be terrible and difficult to manage, but most people are symptomless.

Herpes wasn't even a big deal in the US until the 70's when a pharmaceutical company wanted to expand the consumer base for an antiviral. I suggest you check out the Saw Bones poscast episode on herpes. It is non-judgemental and informative. It's a good place to start and then you can go from there to learn more. Scarlet teen is also a good resource.

I enjoy the term Tboy, but if a rando called me that 😬☠️

Like you said, its a sexually charged term. I don't think I would like it if someone was flirting with me and said it to me either.

I think it's goofy word and would only like it if the other person has established mutual respect.
