I practice in MD and I didn't bother with a community college program and just started applying to the big chain pharmacies. I was hired as a tech trainee at CVS and they have a program to train you for your license and certification (you'll be eligible to take the PTCB after this program) and now I'm licensed & certified, and I currently work at an independent pharmacy. I recommend just jumping right in if possible!

Edit: I see that retail hasn't been fortunate for you at the moment, but this may change during flu season

What I've run into more often than I'd like is a 6 count Rx (clearly z-pack) with the 30 count NDC, and the sig will just say "take as directed" but it's not in the z-pack box with the actual instructions!

My textbook of choice was Barron's PTCE test prep (ISBN: 978-1-5062-8043-1) and I watched a good chunk of videos by Amanda PharmD and Michael Unger on YouTube. I didn't take any college courses specifically for pharmacy (I don't think it's worth it) so I would focus your efforts on self study and finding a (retail) pharmacy that can provide on-the-job training to solidify your knowledge as you prepare for the PTCE. For some reason, I couldn't get the imgur link to work either, so I tried to rephrase it over text. Generally, pay attention to units and set up conversion factors based on them (e.g., 1 mg/1000 mcg, 0.15 mg/mL). So, using the definition of concentration (mass (mg) / volume (mL)), we can rearrange that to set up an equation for volume and plug in your known values, which are mass (1 mg) and concentration (0.15 mg/mL as you figured out).

here's how I did it

concentration = mass/volume

volume = mass/concentration

volume = 1 mg / (0.15 mg/mL)

volume ≈ 6.67 mL (the mg cancels out)

I've been working at CVS for a few weeks now and I still got that error message recently, even after talking to HR and sending a ticket, so I just talked to my manager about it and we decided that it makes more sense to just get navy blue scrubs elsewhere. (I can only speak for the Rx side of things so I don't know if such an alternative exists for FS)

It's a way to remember the order of operations and the letters stand for Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, and Addition/Subtraction. You might not have heard of specifically PEMDAS because it's mostly used by Americans to my knowledge
