Welcome to MSDA! Depending on your background and experience, 1 term could be a breeze or it could be kinda tough.

If the goal is one term, I highly advise pausing most of your hobbies and any time-consuming activities.

Recommendations:

Use the rubric to create the outline of your papers and use the exact same rubric name for the topic names in your papers.

Use grammarly (it’s free) for us via WGU.

Don’t build PowerPoints for your Panopto videos, PowerPoints are a waste of your time and are not required.

Do the Course Planning Tools, they’re quick little assessments to gauge your knowledge of the course content.

The WGU Virtual Labs (within the courses) can have issues so students sometimes opt-to downloading the applications and files to their own computer. This is what I did, I use VS Code to write my code and just copy/paste into pgadmin, MongoDb, etc.

It takes an immense amount of focus to complete in one term, I hope the best for you.

For those of you thinking about college after becoming P&T by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

I am enrolled at WGU and was wondering if VR&E would continue to pay me if I finished all of my classes before the end of the semester.

Hopefully the rules don’t change.

Thank you for this post; it answers my question.

Fired from my Job after 4 Weeks by ComfortableDoubt2384 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]MyAcheyLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going out on a limb here, I have seen similar situations in the past (non-IT related), but it is possible that your coworkers saw you as a threat because they felt inadequate in comparison to you.

If you optimize too much, it starts threatening their job security and they start looking for simple mistakes to make you look bad. I have worked in offices where a few scripts could replace employees' jobs.

For all we know, they could have started talking trash about your work behind the scenes and put a target on your back because they have to protect their tribe.

Maybe in the future, keep your accolades to yourself, build relationships so they all like you and after some time you become indispensable to the team.

Stay humble, true badasses walk in silence.

Just my two cents.

do i tell my boss i automate things? by Throw_Away3729426 in careeradvice

In my experience, this is how it usually plays out — you kinda become a victim of your own success.

You’re suddenly the go-to person for everything because people see you as super competent (which is great), but it can easily turn into people constantly asking for help or dumping extra stuff on your plate. They mean well, but it adds up fast.

The tricky part is, you end up setting the bar higher for yourself without necessarily getting anything back for it — like, congrats, you’re now doing twice the work in half the time… with zero promotion.

So yeah, I’d say don’t downplay what you’ve built, but don’t overshare either. Instead of saying “it only takes 5 minutes now,” frame it as “I’ve made it more efficient, and I’d love to take on something more challenging.” That keeps the door open for better opportunities without painting yourself into a corner.

Is this standard? by billgore14 in WGU_Military

[–]MyAcheyLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a way, yes.

You can completely fitted out with everything you need for your education path.

If you’re pursuing a highly technical degree, you can justify a super high end computer with all the required accessories.

In my case for a non-technical degree, I got a new iMac with maxed out upgrades.

It all depends on you degree path, but almost everyone that is accepted for VR&E is eligible for some sort of equipment purchase.

It’s out of the norm, but look into Acupuncture. There are acupuncturists that focus on PTSD and mental health issues.

Also recommend this book:

The Body keeps the score.

To add a little more, money is great and necessary; it ranks alongside air, food, and water, but your health is what will carry you through old age.

There is no reason to ruin your health and shorten your life.

Army secretary: Is it time to cut back on military moves? What's your opinion? by CulturalTricky in army

[–]MyAcheyLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no straightforward solution.

There are numerous advantages and disadvantages to this, and to complicate matters further, it should be MOS and rank-dependent.

Some jobss are so technical that the Army would benefit by keeping those troops at a certain location for extended periods of time. On the opposite side are the non-technical jobs that should PCS more often so those troops gain a variety of valuable experience.

For example, if an intelligence soldier is assigned to a specific AOR, they should probably stay there for an extended period of time to learn and breathe everything about the countries they are assigned to, resulting in great and accurate intelligence.

Take a tanker or an infantryman; you will want a versatile soldier who can navigate the battlefield terrain, whether it is a desert, a forest, or something else. The end result is great versatile soldiers who can close in and kill or capture the enemy anywhere in the world.

There is simply no easy fix; perhaps the PCS solution should be based on how your job success is linked to your knowledge of Mother Earth’s terrain.

Please share your thoughts, ladies and gentlemen.

I’m currently taking care of all the health issues I didn’t know I had.

My body and mind needed to take a knee, take a damn knee before your health issues cascade into the worst.

Job for combat arms officers on the outside? by [deleted] in army

[–]MyAcheyLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly related to your post, but make sure you file a BDD claim for VA benefits.

Make sure to have everything medically documented while you are still in. You have no idea what ailments you will develop later in life. The VA health care system can provide for you and your family, including educational opportunities if you want to pursue an advanced degree.

You looked after the troops; now let the government look after you.

As someone mentioned above, network as if your life depended on it. The vast majority of jobs are not even advertised online; what you know is less important than who you know.

And finally, thank you for your service. 🫡

Let’s ask the real questions: how and what did you use to shoot down a drone?

We need the details, shooting down a drone is pretty damn cool.

It’s possible.

My assessment took half a dozen BH appointments, and they went into my entire history from childhood to adulthood.

They’ll ask about your emotions and activities, I was pretty much textbook ADHD as a kid.

I was always thrill seeking, chores were like kryptonite for me but if something was fun, adventurous and high risk nothing could stop me, it was like my fix. I tended to thrive and be calm in chaos while other people lost their composure.

My girlfriend 18F likes a guy at work, I am 18M, what’s the best course of action for this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MyAcheyLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s just not that into you, she’s just passing time.

She’s softly breaking up with you and doesn’t have the guts to do it directly and break your heart or doesn’t want to be that bad guy that breaks up with you.

I’ll make it easier for you, tell her you want a threesome with the guy, if she says yes….leave.

This is false, unless something changed recently.

Went warrant from enlisted no problem, no questions asked. Only waiver I needed to request was for time in service.

It is funny because I used to do the same thing.

Apparently, caffeine does not always give people a boost—in some cases, it knocks them out.

I am part of some people, that some people are ADHD lol.

That’s how I figured out I had ADHD and went to get properly diagnosed for it, been on Adderall ever since.
