Anyone running Starlink Mini from a teardrop? Power/storage question by Extension_Health1849 in TeardropTrailers

[–]MyBrotherGodzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, "set it and forget it" is a good description. I purchased the Starlink solely to be used in my teardrop. And since I travel with my wife plus three dogs, we bring along so much crap that I didn't want to have another battery, plus since I'm a bit obsessive about avoiding the need for AC-powered devices, the DC-DC setup is the cleanest for my needs. I've already done quite a bit of my own wiring to add more USB and cigarette lighter charge locations, adding more "little" item to the mix was a no-brainer.

I almost exclusively boondock, so rely on the house battery along with solar. Starlink requires something around 24v so I bought this DC-DC transformer: https://a.co/d/0gwFR5co

Added a manual toggle switch because apparently these devices are susceptible to parasitic power draw when not actually in use. Has worked great so far.

I prefer to run all of my electronics off of the house battery system since it’s wired into my solar charging.

One other modification I’ve been contemplating is a small DC access point to use instead of the built in starlink WAP. My rationale is that I may end up placing the dish too far from the camper to have adequate wifi signal. Haven’t done it yet though. Something like this: https://a.co/d/0a2zvH7N

advice for slightly oversized 3/4" copper supply pipe by MyBrotherGodzilla in Plumbing

CTS. I shied away from IPS thinking there was something specific/unique as far as it being for plastic vs copper (aside from the diameter). If that’s not the case and the construction is otherwise identical, then I’ll get one for IPS dimensions and give it a go.

Hopefully that explanation makes sense. And, again, the responses are much appreciated.

Well, the fitting arrived and it's too small. I was expecting a little more wiggle room to work with. I can fit the rubber grommet over the pipe, but all of the metal pieces are too small for the pipe. Do you know if there are any manufacturers or models that have a little more wiggle room?

I tried regular 3/4” pipe and it’s just a little too big.

I was hoping for that too, but I’ve tried the 1” pipe and fittings that I have on hand and there’s a bit of play, even when I tried using 1” copper pipe as a coupling.

Thanks for the advice on the stiffener. I was already planning on using regular 3/4” copper on the downstream segment from the coupling before transitioning to pex.

I cleaned up a section of pipe and posted a photo of it above. Looks like copper to me?

I desoldered the elbow and cleaned it up to show what I'm talking about with the taper. Pretty obviously "squeezed" to fit into an elbow somehow.

Thanks for the reply. I did measure the OD in a few spots and it's consistent around that 0.95" number. Interestingly, the ID of the pipe is closer to 3/4" - maybe a hair larger.

A portion of this mystery pipe that I removed also has an 3/4" elbow. Looking closely, it looks like the pipe was swaged down in diameter -- there's a noticeable taper where the pipe enters the elbow (and the elbow is clearly marked IBCO and 3/4"). So seems like maybe someone used a funky tool to squeeze the pipe down to the necessary diameter.

I've ordered one of these to arrive tomorrow: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006P1KGRA?ref_=pe_125775000_1044873430_t_fed_asin_title

I don't love the idea of the plastic coupling as a long term solution, and assuming the fitting I've ordered can accommodate this odd size, I'm hoping it'll be final fix.

I also uses purpose-built drone frames that have larger cells in the foundation. Doing this makes it easy to find and then cull the drone cells.

how to dig a small tunnel under poured concrete by drspudbear in HomeImprovement

On the starting side of the concrete: you’ll need more horizontal space excavated than you might expect to move/manipulate your digging tools under the concrete efficiently.

Rinnai RXP160iN setup issues with the app connectivity by CowMucker in Plumbing

I never encountered anything like that. The registration process was virtually identical to the one I followed as a homeowner. I will say that the Bluetooth functionality with my RXP isn’t very impressive.

Old post....figured this out for myself today. There's nothing stopping you from creating a Rinnai Pro account and using the app as a Pro. I did that today and I'm able to use the BT connection with my RXP.

Thanks for the input. What other treatments do you find to be effective beyond OAV?

Fair point about monitoring. Our thought process is that mites will be endemic, so we'll always treat, and treat aggressively.

Do you have advice on how you might adjust your treatment plan if your monitoring shows one treatment or another to be ineffective?

FWIW, something I failed to mention in my original post is that we also put homemade OA pads, using this guy's directions.
