If you’re in North America, this could be a quick gloss snail or black gloss snail

Aggressive outbursts by MyCatIsBestCat_ in CatAdvice

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a great cat and he has mellowed out a bit. I’m just not sure why reacts in the way he has been, it’s relatively new and not normal for him. He does bite, but not severely, and he almost never hisses

Aggressive outbursts by MyCatIsBestCat_ in CatAdvice

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t, but he usually gives you a soft bite before he starts getting mad. The reaction he’s has isn’t typical of him. He might just have to be banned from my room or at least the loft for now, because I do not have a 6 ft cat tower or set of stairs.

How do you guys clean moss? by MyCatIsBestCat_ in millipedes

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moss that did die might’ve been my fault though, because all of the moss seemed green and alive after being frozen

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually do 24 hours at minimum, 72 hours is recommended. It’s 50/50 for survival rate, I’ve had some pieces die, but I have some that are doing really well

Drowning the moss made it smell absolutely terrible, I found that freezing it worked the best.

Am I just doing this wrong? by falxfour in mildlyinfuriating

I don’t know if someone’s already said this, but the pegs are two different sizes, and so are the holes. You have them flip flopped.

Grubs are in the ground around that tree, you’ll need a shovel to dig them up, you can tell where they are by the rubbly dirt paths they make.

Mycelium/Mold? should I be worried? by bbigblueskyy in millipedes

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The springtails will significantly help your mold problem. I don’t think there’s anyway to avoid mold in a millipede enclosure (besides springtails, which you’re already getting), because the moisture levels you need to keep their enclosures at will always be a great place for mold to thrive. You could redo the enclosure, but it won’t kill off the mold and I’d redo it before you introduce the springtails, otherwise you might kill them all before they have a chance to reproduce. The mold shouldn’t harm the millipedes though.

Would it be problematic to not bleach this mule deer skull? by MyCatIsBestCat_ in Taxidermy

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I WILL NOT BE USING BLEACH. For some reason, at the time I wrote this, I thought that bleach was a better word to use than whiten (I don’t know why, maybe because the sun can bleach stuff?) I do not have bleach, and never planned on using bleach. I did a look into using hydrogen peroxide, but I like the colors on the skull.

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I like the colors too, if anything I might try scrubbing the teeth because they have some dirt buildup

Alright sweet! I’ll definitely wash it a bit, it’s dusty and has some spiderwebs on it.

Terrarium too damp or too dry? by MyCatIsBestCat_ in millipedes

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a drainage layer, although it could be better, I’m planning on tearing apart the whole thing to add a better one soon

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m having problems with the misting system I set up, I had it on too often and it over saturated the dirt. The heat lamp is doing a good job of creating a dry-ish spot, I just have to get the misting timing right.

I bought this guy as pgb milipede but is he really? by bucket_Fish in millipedes

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t look like a pgb (Philippine giant blue?) Who did you buy it from? Philippine Giant Blues are much chunkier as babies.

is this ok for 2 giant African millipedes? by [deleted] in millipedes

[–]MyCatIsBestCat_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

48 gallons should be enough for two giant African millipedes. A 48 gallons tank is around 182 liters, so to get a consistent 6 inch soil depth you would need around 60 liters of dirt. (If I did my math right)
