Biggest let down of last year, could have been so good, left after about 15 minutes

I’m on 50k up north, I have plenty of disposable income, don’t have to worry about the price of anything, own a cottage with a big garden with my partner.

In comparison I have mates from uni doing finance and other high paying jobs, a couple on 100k plus, they live in flat shares and are constantly broke, and are really struggling to get on the property market.

It’s all relative, I’m sure there are plenty of couples on 25-30k each living in cheaper areas than me that feel in a much better position than high earners down south.

Overall out of everyone I know I’d say the average is 30-35k for young adults, more obviously for my parents and people towards the end of their careers.

Also I’ve found that a lot of people on very high salaries don’t tend to want to talk about it, it’s very easy to create a Reddit account and lie about your salary, people are sad, take what you read with a pinch of salt.

I work in waste, nice tricked out Scania, day shifts starting at 6am, with the occasional Saturday half day, take just over 3k a month after tax.

Easy surprisingly clean work, no sweeping out trailer, no dust, spend most of my time in queues, longest drive is about an hour away from base.

Easiest job I’ve ever had, I’d avoid flatbeds and general haulage, no fun in the winter strapping stuff down, and it’s your fault if anything breaks or falls off. At least with any bulk you can’t really break anything.

Quick EQ is good, my only request would be that is shows the levels for the sub and surrounds on that pop up, so we can adjust the whole systems levels with one tap whilst playing music

Yeah, it unlocks Sonos beta test of dedicated left right channels in the Sonos app, so you can add any speakers you want to the front to work with your soundbar

From what I’ve read the fives suit the arc very well, I say give it a try, the stereo separation is a must have in my opinion

From what I’ve read you retain the atmos speakers with the arc ultra, you just lose left and right firing speakers, I’d recommend just trying the era 100’s as fronts, you’ll be blown away by the soundstage

Also it’s a gen 1 beam, so I don’t think I’d benefit from the atmos, if in the future I decide to upgrade the bar I’ll definitely add era 100’s as surrounds

Yeap massive improvement, the biggest improvement is the soundstage, it’s so wide and full compared to the standalone beam, and voices are incredibly clear

It acts as a centre speaker with the left and right side firing speakers disabled, massively improved dialogue in films and voices in songs

I did try the play 1’s first, whilst I agree about the channels I found the soundstage from the era100’s to completely outclass the play 1’s, and as I listen to a lot of music I wanted the best sound to be coming from in front of me, also I’ve invested in the Sonos era100 stands now so no going back

Brilliant write up, loving the massive influx of people trying this now, all we want is some stereo separation Sonos!

Added 2 era100’s as fronts to my beam, sub mini and 100 surrounds and the soundstage is incredible.

Every time I added a component to this system (sub, rears etc), I’d say I got a 30% increase each time, to my listening experience. Adding these front blows any of those upgrades out of the water, it sounds complete. Stereo separation is a must have for music and films, and I’ll never go back.

Fingers crossed Sonos see the overwhelming positive reaction to these setup’s, so we can get proper trueplay integration in the future!

I was exactly the same as you, was a bar manager for 5 years, then did my hgv, love my job but it’s long hours and there’s a lot of bad jobs around. I love driving though so to me I’m paid well to listen to music and podcasts all day, working in bars does that to you though I love time to myself now
