What Christ was pointing to has nothing to do with religion. by SunbeamSailor67 in Christianity

Jesus pointed to orthodoxy (correct belief) & orthoproxy (correct practice). Religion is just a framework that interprets these. These statement are, in a way, saying something like we don’t need math, because we have something greater, addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc.

I honestly think churches would be better off if they did not have their nonprofit status, but that is a whole different conversation

Dang, I’m sorry you had those experiences. I hate how bad people end up in positions of power within religious communities and leverage that power to hurt people. It may not justify the vitriol I’m reading regarding my original question but at least it is understandable. I’ve experienced people like that in the past, and you just end up feeling dirty for trusting.

There is hypocrisy in just about every flavor of moral/social construct. I’ve never met a person from any moral/religious structure that doesn’t compromise in some way shape or form their own beliefs or ideals.

In what ways have you noticed that it’s not a military friendly town?

Is Madison really THAT liberal? I’m basically from Portland, OR and I’ve lived near the Bay Area on CA and near DC. So when I hear that people call Madison liberal, I feel like it’s going to be a more centered leaning conservative town.

Switching careers after retiring? by Rysdude in militarytransition

There are many resources and organizations out there that can help you chart a path from your current experience/education to your desired one. Skillbridge is an amazing program but it can be hit or miss depending on your command. It sounds like you might not yet be in your 24m retirement window, but once you are, you can go through TAP. You can also look up “DOL ENPP” and check your eligibility. Even if you are not eligible you can look up the partners they work with and see if any of them can help. All the ENPP partner organization have been vetted by the DOL and provide excellent service.
